Meghan Markle reportedly hoped Princess Eugenie could help promote As Ever in Britain. But according to RadarOnline, the plan has hit a snag as Eugenie’s relationship with Prince Harry and Markle reportedly comes under pressure.

The couple has been close to Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, for years. However, an unnamed source claimed that “Eugenie has become very reluctant to maintain the same level of contact with the Sussexes.”

The source added that Harry feels disappointed. He reportedly saw his younger cousin as one of his strongest allies in the royal family. Eugenie has built a career in the art world. She studied English Literature and History of Art at Newcastle University, graduating in 2012.

She later worked at New York auction house Paddle8 before joining London gallery Hauser & Wirth in 2015. She was promoted to director in 2017. In 2025, she also became a patron of Artswork. The tipster said that Markle’s friendship with Eugenie had “an obvious personal significance.”

The source added that Eugenie’s royal connections could help promote the lifestyle Markle “is trying to create through As Ever.” The insider said As Ever focuses on “entertaining, hospitality, beautiful surroundings and a particular vision of family life.”

Eugenie, the source added, moves naturally in those circles and has strong connections across Britain and Europe. The source said those connections could help Markle reach the people she wants to attract through her business. However, that wouldn’t necessarily mean Eugenie would become an official ambassador or appear in ads.

Sometimes, the insider explained, the value comes from “being seen together” and sharing experiences. Even an informal connection with another royal could bring As Ever “enormous publicity.” A photograph of the women spending time together could attract international attention.

Eugenie attending an As Ever event might do the same, the source claimed. Still, the insider pointed out that friendship and business are two different things. Eugenie has her own career, family responsibilities, and relationships within the monarchy to consider.

Markle hoped their friendship would create business opportunities, but the source said Eugenie’s “apparent reluctance” could be disappointing. The insider claimed her distance from the Sussexes had “scuppered Meghan’s plan” to use her to promote As Ever and possibly develop products in Britain.

Eugenie stayed in touch with Harry and Markle after they left official royal duties in 2020. The couple then moved to California. She also appeared in the Sussexes’ Netflix documentary, Harry & Meghan. The series talked about why Harry and Markle left the royal family and their rocky relationship with the monarchy.

Even after Harry released his 2023 memoir, Spare, Eugenie and the Sussexes reportedly stayed friends. But things may have gotten more complicated since then. Eugenie is reportedly keeping her distance as her parents, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson, face scrutiny.

It centers on their links to convicted s–x offender Jeffrey Epstein. Neither Eugenie nor her sister, Princess Beatrice, has been accused of being involved in Epstein’s crimes. But their parents’ ties to him could reportedly cause problems for them within the royal family.

According to RadarOnline, Eugenie also wants to stay on good terms with Prince William and King Charles. So, staying close to Harry and Markle could make that a little harder. The source described Eugenie as “less enthusiastic about arranging meetings with the couple.”
