‘Keep His Mouth Shut’: Prince Harry Hit With Brutal Warning as Royal Hopes Crumble
Prince Harry has been told to “keep his mouth shut” if he wants to make peace with King Charles III and Prince William. PR expert Eric Schiffer criticized the Duke of Sussex’s decision to discuss the family feud publicly in the GQ interview.
Harry spoke about his hopes of fixing his strained family relationships. Speaking to Newsweek, Schiffer said Harry needed to choose between repairing family relationships and protecting his public image.
“Make a selection—do you want a relationship with your father and your brother, or do you want to try to stop the bleed out of reputational challenges, because you can’t have both, and if he’s going to focus on his reputation, then he has to keep his mouth shut with his family, don’t talk about it, don’t comment,” he said.
In the interview, Harry discussed his “complicated” relationship with his father and brother while promoting his MasterClass project on grief. During that, journalist Zach Baron asked Harry if he grieves his relationship with his father and brother.
“Yeah, yes, of course, from a family perspective, again another massively relatable issue for so many people,” Harry replied. He added, “There’s sibling disagreements, there’s broken relationships between, you know, kids and their parents, kids and one parent.” Harry then continued, “And some people don’t want it to work out. I want it to work out.”
His spokesperson later denied that Harry was taking a swipe at his family. “It was absolutely not intended as a swipe at his brother or any other member of his family. The comment was made in a general context and was not directed at his family in any way,” the spokesperson said.
Harry also made his wish for reconciliation clear during the interview. “Of course I do. Again, with everything else that’s going on in the world, the most important thing is to reconcile. That’s the key point.” Meanwhile, William reportedly isn’t ready to make peace with his younger brother.
A source told The Daily Mirror, “There isn’t a world right now where the Prince of Wales can imagine repairing the relationship with his brother.” They also said William “remains deeply hurt” by the things Harry has said about him and other family members.
During his 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey, Harry said he felt let down by his family. He also described William and Charles as being “trapped” in the royal system. But he made it clear that he still loved them. In 2023, Harry said he wanted his family back.
“I would like to get my father back; I would like to have my brother back,” he told ITV. He also accused some royals of working with the press against him and Meghan Markle. Harry said he wanted his family to take responsibility before they could move forward.
He also claimed they had shown “absolutely no willingness to reconcile.” In May 2025, Harry once again said he wanted to make peace. “I would love reconciliation with my family,” he told the BBC. He added, “There’s no point in continuing to fight anymore. Life is precious.”
