‘Super Cringe’: Meghan Markle Branded ‘Self-Absorbed’ After Giggling in As Ever Promo Video
Meghan Markle has reportedly faced criticism over a new promotional video for her lifestyle brand, As Ever. The clip promotes the second part of its Holiday Collection. However, some users have taken issue with her giggling and touching her hair. Markle shared the clip on As Ever’s official Instagram page. The post promised “something for everyone on your list.”
The new festive range includes a £73 Trellis Porcelain Teapot, a £73 ‘Signature Two-Wick Holiday Candle,’ and a £48 tub of chocolate-covered popcorn. Meanwhile, the brand’s website lists the teapot and candle at $98 each. In the clip, Markle lights a candle, pours some champagne, and arranges chocolate bars on plates at a fancy dining table.
She then looks straight into the camera before ending the clip with a giggle and a little hair touch. That last bit reportedly caught some internet users’ attention. According to the Express, one user called Markle “self-absorbed.” Another added, “It’s always the over-the-top laugh and hair touching. Does she know any other pose?”
A third commented, “I’m convinced the way she filmed this is mocking her. The look on her face and the hair-touching laugh is super cringe.” A fourth comment read, “She is not cute. She needs to stop forcing this on us.” As Ever has also moved beyond candles and chocolates. The new range includes embroidered table linens, rattan coasters and wine mats.
There’s a porcelain tea set, too. Prices go up to $398 for a linen tablecloth. The collection also includes room sprays and reed diffusers. Their scents include Moroccan mint, cardamom, and tea leaves. There’s something for dogs now, too. Markle’s brand launched a $20 plush toy shaped like its raspberry spread jar.
It comes with a squeaker, and Labrador, Pula, helped test it out. As Ever described it as “Inspired by our best-selling spread, now for your best friend.” Markle’s chocolate range has grown as well. As Ever teamed up with Los Angeles chocolatier Compartés for a $75 gift box. Named ‘Trophy Chocolate Bar Gift Set,’ it features five limited-edition chocolate bars. The brand also sells a $42 trio of chocolate bars inspired by its teas.
As Ever also got into the festive spirit with its 2026 holiday advent calendar. It contains 24 handcrafted chocolates made with Compartés. The calendar costs $148 on the brand’s website. The calendar’s packaging takes inspiration from the Sussexes’ California home and garden. Markle revealed that she started planning it months before Christmas.
Markle and Prince Harry are reportedly planning to spend Christmas with their children and Markle’s mother, Doria Ragland, in the U.S. The couple’s friend told The Sunday Times, “For Thanksgiving and Christmas, they will do whatever Doria wants to do.”
They aren’t expected to join King Charles and the rest of the royal family at Sandringham this year. Harry and Markle last spent Christmas with the royals in 2018, before stepping back from their royal roles. Markle has also spoken about the family traditions she’s building with her children.
In a 2024 interview with Marie Claire, she shared how much she enjoys celebrating Christmas with them. “Every year it gets better,” she said. The family enjoys festive meals, games, and leaving carrots for Santa’s reindeer. Markle has also shared some of their traditions in her Netflix holiday special, With Love, Meghan: Holiday Celebration.
