Meghan Markle’s acting comeback could get tougher. British broadcaster Helena Chard believes her prospects may be affected by Netflix boss Bela Bajaria’s departure from the company. “Harry and Meghan’s champion inside Netflix, Bela Bajaria, has recently left the streaming service,” Chard told Fox News Digital.

“The previous safety net is gone. Unfortunately for Meghan, she may want to jump straight into a top acting role, but there is far more stacked against it happening.” According to Variety, Bajaria left Netflix in October 2026 after nearly 10 years.

The streamer also announced around 1,000 job cuts. Royal commentator Kinsey Schofield also questioned where things stand between Netflix and the Sussexes. “What I find most revealing is that Meghan’s camp now appears comfortable publicly criticizing Netflix,” she told the outlet.

“This was one of their most important commercial partners. You don’t typically throw a company under the bus when you’re counting on them to finance your next big project. To me, this is the clearest indication yet that their relationship with Netflix has effectively come to an end.”

Meanwhile, Markle is no longer in talks to join Guy Ritchie’s Netflix show The Gentlemen. People close to Markle said Netflix used her name to promote the show. According to The Telegraph, Markle’s camp believes Netflix leaked news of her possible casting to promote season 2.

“Some people in her camp feel she was used to help promote Season 2, because they knew it wasn’t as good as the first season and had already commissioned a third,” a source told the newspaper.

But Netflix has pushed back against those claims. “This is not a show in need of stunt casting,” a source close to Netflix told The Times. In August 2025, Netflix signed a new multiyear deal with the Sussexes’ production company, Archewell Productions. The deal gives Netflix the first chance to consider its projects.

The Sussexes reportedly signed a $100 million deal with Netflix in 2020. They went on to release Harry & Meghan, Live to Lead, Heart of Invictus, and Polo. Markle’s With Love, Meghan also got two seasons and a holiday special in 2025. But the show reportedly wouldn’t return for Season 3.

Reports have mentioned plans to adapt his memoir No Way Out and the romance novels Meet Me at the Lake and The Wedding Date. Before marrying Prince Harry in 2018, Markle played Rachel Zane on Suits for seven seasons. She told Variety in 2022 that she was “done” with acting. But she’s since had a change of heart.

Markle has filmed a cameo in Close Personal Friends. Markle’s got another TV gig lined up. Network 10 confirmed on October 27, 2026, that she’ll appear on Junior MasterChef Australia in 2027. She’ll join host Poh Ling Yeow and help guide the young contestants.

Meanwhile, royal broadcaster Ian Pelham Turner also believes Markle can still make a comeback in acting. “The role which brought her to fame in ‘Suits’ proves she is an actress of quality,” he said. “If she wanted to return to acting, which I believe is still a passion, then she could bring great credit to any production.”
