Meghan Markle’s potential acting comeback has resurfaced as The Gentlemen Season 3 prepares to film. Vinnie Jones, who plays groundskeeper Geoff Seacombe, spoke at the Season 2 premiere in London on September 3. He said filming was due to begin “next week.” 

Jones also joked about the possibility of Markle joining the cast. “We have got a lot of pretty girls in this, I’m not sure there is room for another one,” he stated. Reports previously linked Markle to a potential role in Season 3. This raised the possibility of her return to acting. However, Netflix has not officially confirmed her casting. 

The speculation sparked backlash in Britain. Former Vanity Fair editor Tina Brown claimed that the casting was withdrawn after that. “The backlash in the UK was so intense, it became untenable to go forward,” Brown wrote. 

The reaction came as Markle and Prince Harry prepared to return to Britain with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. Harry and Markle have lived in California since 2020. They stepped back from working royal duties that year and began building a new life in the U.S. 

The couple’s return to Britain fueled reports about Markle’s possible acting comeback, too. She played Rachel Zane on Suits from 2011 until leaving the show after Season 7. Markle stepped away from acting after becoming engaged to Harry in 2017. 

During their joint BBC interview, interviewer Mishal Husain asked Markle about “giving up” on her career. Markle pushed back on that idea, saying, “I don’t see it as giving anything up. I just see it as a change.” She added, “It’s a new chapter, right?”

The Duchess also pointed to her seven years on Suits. The show had reached the 100-episode mark, which she saw as a natural point to move on. “For me, once we hit the 100-episode marker, I thought, you know what, I have ticked this box,” she said. Markle added that she felt “very proud” of her work and that it was time to “work as a team” with Harry.

Still, Markle reportedly wants a private film studio as she and Harry search for a permanent base in the Cotswolds. According to the Daily Mail, she “wants nine bedrooms and a film studio.” Harry, meanwhile, wants “a lot, and I mean a lot, of land, and no footpaths going across it to protect their privacy.”

The reported film studio could support Markle’s ongoing business and entertainment work. Royal commentator Paula Froelich also claimed there was “a buzz about a ‘return to the U.K.’ series” involving the Sussexes. She added, “I am hearing that there is an active project.”

Markle built a film and television career before joining the British royal family. She first appeared in General Hospital in 2001 and later had small roles in shows including CSI: NY, 90210, Fringe, and CSI: Miami. Her film credits included Remember Me (2010), Horrible Bosses (2011), and Anti-Social (2015). 

After leaving acting, Markle returned to the screen as a narrator for Disney’s Elephant in 2020. She later fronted Netflix’s With Love, Meghan, in 2025, although that was a lifestyle series rather than an acting role. She also filmed a cameo as herself in Amazon MGM’s Close Personal Friends.
