Meghan Markle recently revealed the reason why she distanced herself from her father, Thomas Markle Sr., years ago. However, a former royal correspondent says he is not buying the Duchess of Sussex’s clarification. The expert claimed that the 45-year-old is meticulously making the scandal all about herself. 

Thomas is currently under criminal investigation in the Philippines after allegedly possessing child s—– a—- material. Philippine police claimed that they found hundreds of troubling images in his Cebu home. The Duchess opened up about her estrangement from her father shortly after the scandal came to light. 

In a statement, Meghan said she had been shown a letter containing disturbing allegations against her father and had been assured that the claims were being investigated. She also pushed back against media coverage of her estrangement, explaining that her decision to keep her father away from her children was intended to protect them.

According to The Daily Beast, Rob Jobson, also known as the “godfather of royal reporting,” said he did not believe Markle’s claims. During his appearance on The Royalist podcast, the expert claimed that Markle had many opportunities to reveal her father’s reality in public. Instead, she chose this time to portray herself as a “victim of a media campaign.”

“I just don’t buy this, this ‘Poor me’ thing from Meghan Markle,” Jobson said. He further argued that the Duchess grabbed the opportunity and utilized her father’s story to gain sympathy. “I think that’s a rather shoddy—slightly contrived, to say the very least—way of doing this,” the expert said. 

Podcast host Tom Sykes chimed in to mention that Markle’s statement turned the tables again. He claimed that if she had remained silent, people would have figured out why she distanced herself from her father. Jobson further said, “But no, it’s been turned into this sort of drama.” 

He further claimed that Markle has created drama after drama in the past few weeks. As they are back in the U.K., the expert believes that such public issues made it all about the Sussexes. 

Meanwhile, the scandal involving Markle’s father made her estranged half-brother, Thomas Markle Jr., change sides. The60-year-old publicly slammed his Duchess sister via his social media posts. He also dressed up as her and mocked her on YouTube. 

According to The Sun, Markle Jr. recently apologized to his half-sister while owning up to his mistakes. “I’m so, so sorry Meghan,” he said, before adding that he was protecting the “wrong person” for nine years. He further added, “Having seen what I’ve seen, I believe the man I’ve been defending and caring for is a monster.”

The 60-year-old continued to defend Markle, saying that he understands why she chose to keep Prince Harry away from their father. He confessed to being ashamed of his past actions and taking Thomas’ side for years. 

In his apology, he also recalled the time the Duchess was a little baby. He said that he held her in his arms and looked after her at the time. Markle Jr. urged the mother of two to accept his apology before wishing her and her family the “best for the future.” Thomas has strongly denied all allegations against him.
