Prince Harry and Meghan Markle pulled Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet out of their new school after just two days. According to Page Six, the children’s security team had concerns about the daily school run. The heavy traffic and long drive from home created transportation problems. 

Royal commentator Kinsey Schofield has questioned why they did not see the logistical problems coming. Schofield told the outlet that the school switch was “another example” of poor planning. “None of these logistical problems are a surprise,” she said.

Schofield added that locals had warned her about the “horrific traffic.” They allegedly said that navigating the area during the school run required “the patience of a saint.” The commute reportedly involved a 45-minute drive, four times daily. Moreover, Archie and Lilibet’s different schedules made things harder for the security team. 

The expert also raised an eyebrow at the timing. “I also think there will inevitably be some cynicism around the timing,” she said. She suggested the school-run concerns could benefit Harry’s long-running fight for greater security protection in the U.K. However, Crisis Communications Expert Ryan McCormick sees it another way. 

“It seems that Harry and Meghan have genuine concern about the safety of their children,” he told Page Six. “Because of who they are, everything that they do is met with speculation and heightened scrutiny.” Markle has recently shared a family video on Instagram. It came just a day before news of the school switch broke.

It showed Harry fishing with Archie and Lilibet, the kids playing outside, and Lilibet riding her bike while Archie ran alongside her. One clip even showed a child warming their feet by a fire. Markle added a Union Jack and a heart emoji at the top of the video. 

Wham!’s Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go was playing in the background. The video later faced backlash. Users deemed the Duchess of Sussex a bit “hypocritical” about her kids’ privacy. She and Harry have usually been pretty careful about Archie and Lilibet. They’ve also talked about wanting to protect them online. 

But this time, Markle gave everyone a much closer look at them and their life in the U.K. Schofield later wondered if “the post [was] intended to get ahead of this story.” Archie and Lilibet have moved to another U.K. school now. However, its name has not been made public yet. 

Harry and Markle reportedly wanted their kids to have a quieter school life. They haven’t confirmed whether that means dropping their royal titles in class. The pair brought the kids back to the U.K. as they started looking for a more permanent base there. 

The couple also reportedly want Archie and Lilibet to feel more connected to Britain, especially since it is such a big part of their family history. A source close to them said the family is “happy to be back.” For now, their main focus seems to be getting the kids settled.
