Prince Harry’s Project Could Get a Major Boost From Netflix’s Biggest Rival
Prince Harry’s Invictus Games could be getting a big new sponsor. According to The Sun, Amazon has reportedly agreed to sponsor the 2027 Birmingham Games. A source familiar with it told the outlet,
“The deal would be a shot in the arm for Invictus and Harry… Amazon wanted to get involved. They already do a lot to back veterans, including employment programmes. The games are a big undertaking and expensive. And it’s interesting Amazon are Netflix’s big rival.”
Harry and Markle have already worked with Netflix through their production company, Archewell Productions. Their first big project was Harry & Meghan. They later worked on shows like Live to Lead, Heart of Invictus, and Polo.
Markle also made With Love, Meghan. The Netflix partnership was later extended. In August 2025, the streaming giant announced a new multi-year, first-look deal with Archewell Productions. But Amazon hasn’t officially confirmed the reported deal yet.
The 2027 Invictus Games are coming to Birmingham from July 10 to 17. Around 550 wounded, injured and sick service personnel and veterans are expected to take part. They’ll come from 25 nations, with their families joining them for the Games. Uganda recently became the 26th country to confirm its participation.
The competitors will take on 12 adaptive sports, including swimming, wheelchair basketball, sitting volleyball, athletics, and powerlifting. Esports, pickleball, and laser run will also make their Invictus Games debut. Harry founded the Invictus Games in 2014 after visiting the U.S. Warrior Games a year earlier.
The first Games took place in London that September. Now, Birmingham 2027 will bring the event back to the U.K. for the first time since that very first Games. Meghan Markle could be there, too. Markle was expected to join Harry at a July 2026 Invictus event in Birmingham but didn’t attend.
According to People, security concerns were behind her decision. The reported Amazon partnership came as organizers continue adding commercial backing for Birmingham 2027. According to The Sun, the Games need around £20 million to cover next year’s costs. However, the official funding is broader.
So tell Meghan & Harry tell the world announced a deal without actually having the deal yet. Couldn’t they wait a few days until the agreement came through?

The U.K. Government has agreed to £26 million in underwriting for Birmingham 2027. The money acts as a safety net if commercial funding falls short. An Invictus Games Birmingham 2027 spokesman said,
“Invictus Games Birmingham 2027 is excited about the partnerships taking shape as we build towards the Games next year. We’ve already announced some great partners and look forward to welcoming more who share our ambition for the Games in the months ahead.”
The representative added that the event is being funded through a mix of “UK Government underwriting, commercial partnerships, charitable support and in-kind contributions.” The organization added that it is still working to secure more funding ahead of the Games.
The report also mentioned Boeing. The aircraft company has supported the Invictus Games movement for years. It remains a partner of the Invictus Games Foundation. However, Boeing’s broader Foundation partnership is separate from its sponsorship of the Birmingham Games.
Birmingham 2027 has already added several commercial partners. Defender is an official automotive partner. It’s also the presenting partner for wheelchair rugby. ATCO has joined as the Games’ International Flag Partner.
