Ryan Reynolds Takes Jab at Mark Consuelos, Jokes About Vasectomy in Text to Morning Talk Show Hosts
Ryan Reynolds brought his signature humor and heartfelt admiration to Live with Kelly and Mark this morning. He arrived to share stories from his new documentary, John Candy: I Like Me. The film, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and arrives on Prime Video this Friday, explores the life and legacy of the late comedy legend John Candy. Despite nearly missing his segment due to traffic, Reynolds arrived just in time. And he lightened the mood by reading aloud the humorous text he sent to co-hosts Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos. Here’s how the Deadpool actor took a jab at Consuelos and joked about getting a vasectomy.
Ryan Reynolds playfully jabbed at Mark Consuelos during his morning segment on ‘Live With Kelly and Mark’
In October 2025, Ryan Reynolds stopped by Live with Kelly and Mark primarily to promote his latest project, the heartfelt documentary John Candy: I Like Me. The documentary delves into the life and career of the beloved comedic icon. Beyond sharing behind-the-scenes stories and amusing anecdotes about Candy, Reynolds discussed why the film resonated with him personally. He explained that Candy’s blend of vulnerability and humor influenced his own approach to acting. For Reynolds, honoring Candy’s legacy was a way to celebrate a generation of comedians who shaped modern comedy.
Aside from his focus on the film, Reynolds noted that he nearly didn’t make it in time to film his segment with Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos. The actor became hopelessly stuck in traffic while traveling from upstate New York.
“Morning,” Reynolds’ text to Ripa and Consuelos started. “Gave myself two full hours from upstate, but I’m sitting on the Hudson in what can only be described as the second act of Sharknado 10 — unwatchable, but I’m sitting here, it’s happening, and there’s nothing I can do about it. Waze is saying I arrive at 9:15 a.m. The other map says I’d get here earlier if I did the worm for 50 blocks. But I’m 48, and I’d rather get a vasectomy the normal way.”
Reynolds’ text continued by taking a playful jab at Consuelos. “The good news is, I’m dressed and I don’t care about makeup the way Mark does,” he wrote. “I’ll walk right out there like I’m starring in a damn Dove commercial, celebrating my inner beauty. So what if I don’t look five hours younger through the magic of cosmetics?”
His text concluded by suggesting that Ripa and Consuelos tell “the most terrified person wearing a headset” that he’d be late.
Thankfully, the hosts loved the text and laughed through the segment.
