Sarah Ferguson’s Ridiculous Demands Included Having Her Staffers Iron Her Underwear Each Day
Sarah Ferguson‘s name has been in the headlines after more of her and her ex-husband, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor‘s connections to Jeffrey Epstein were made public.
In October 2025, King Charles announced plans to evict his brother and the former duchess from the Royal Lodge estate they shared over their past association with the convicted sex offender. That move was accelerated after the U.S. Department of Justice released millions of pages of Epstein files in January and Andrew and Sarah’s names appeared hundreds of times in those documents.
Andrew was forced to move to a modest home in Norfolk and Sarah went into hiding. In April, she was spotted in the Austrian Alps. Fergie’s been making news again as staffers who used to work for her at another royal residence she occupied are speaking out about the ridiculous demands she had for them, which included ironing her undergarments.
The staff members airing out their grievances worked under Fergie at Sunninghill Park, the home she and Andrew moved into in 1988. They spoke to authors Chris Hutchins and Peter Thompson for the book, Sarah’s Story: The Duchess who Defied the Royal House of Windsor.
They claimed Sarah demanded employees iron her underwear, bras, and tights each day. And if the staffers didn’t wash her clothing with her favorite detergent, she would “order everything to be cleaned again.”
Another thing Fergie instructed staff to do was record the temperature of the water [every time they prepared her baths] so it was exactly to her liking. And every morning, she ordered freshly squeezed orange juice “just as she sat down for breakfast. She could tell the difference if the juice had been prepared earlier and refused to touch it.”
