Savannah Chrisley ‘Freaking Out’ Over Trump’s Promise to Pardon Todd and Julie Chrisley
One-time reality TV personality Savannah Chrisley is celebrating President Donald Trump’s promise to pardon her parents, convicted fraudsters Todd and Julie Chrisley.
Savannah Chrisley reacts to pardon for ‘Chrisley Knows Best’ stars
On Tuesday, Trump called Savannah to inform her he planned to pardon the Chrisley Knows Best stars. Both Todd, 57, and Julie, 52, are currently serving lengthy prison sentences after being convicted of a $36 million fraud scheme in 2022. The couple lied to obtain personal loans from various community banks and then failed to pay federal income taxes for many years. Instead, they used the ill-gotten money to finance their lavish lifestyle, which was featured on their now-canceled USA Network reality show.
“The president called me personally as I was walking into Sam’s Club and notified me that he was signing pardon paperwork for both of my parents,” Savannah, 27, said in an Instagram video. “So, both my parents are coming home tonight or tomorrow and I still don’t believe it’s real. I’m freaking out. The fact that the president called me, I will forever be grateful for President Trump, his administration, and everyone along the way.”
“It’s a terrible thing but it’s a great thing because your parents are going to be free and clean and I hope we can do it by tomorrow,” Trump says in a video of him making the call to Savannah, which was shared on X (via NPR). “Is that OK? We’ll try getting it done tomorrow. So I don’t know them but give them my regards and wish them a good life.”
The Chrisley family will star in a new Lifetime docuseries
Savannah has cozied up to the Trump administration in recent months as she lobbied for her parents’ release. She spoke at the Republican National Convention in August 2024, where she claimed her parents’ prosecution was politically motivated. In February, she visited the White House, again making the case that her parents should be let out of prison.
An exact release date for the Chrisleys has not been confirmed. According to the Bureau of Prisons website, Todd is currently incarcerated at FPC Pensacola with an expected release date in April 2032. Julie is behind bars at FMC Lexington with a scheduled release date in January 2028.
Chrisley Knows Best aired from 2014 to 2023 on USA Network. It was canceled, along with the spinoff Growing Up Chrisley, following Todd and Julie’s convictions. But the family will soon be returning to TV. Prior to the pardon news, Lifetime announced a docuseries focused on their life following the trial. Savannah is an executive producer on the as-yet-untitled series.
