Nancy Guthrie, the 84‑year‑old mother of Today show co‑anchor Savannah Guthrie, has been missing from her Tucson, Arizona home since the night of Jan. 31, 2026. Authorities are treating the case as a potential criminal abduction rather than a typical missing‑person situation. Law enforcement officials say they have found concerning evidence at her residence and believe she did not leave on her own, noting her limited mobility and need for daily medication. These factors heighten concerns for her safety.

Most recently, Savannah and her siblings posted a video pleading for her mother’s safe return. Here’s what she said.

Sheriff Believes Savannah Guthrie’s Mom Could’ve Been Abducted From Arizona Home

As the search for Today show co‑host Savannah Guthrie’s 84‑year‑old mother, Nancy Guthrie, continues, multiple unverified ransom notes have surfaced. However, authorities have not confirmed that they are genuine. Local news outlets, including TMZ, reported receiving an email that appeared to be a ransom demand, allegedly seeking millions of dollars in Bitcoin and containing specific details about Nancy’s alleged clothing and items in her home. This was then forwarded to law enforcement for analysis.

Investigators with the Pima County Sheriff’s Department and the FBI are taking all leads seriously. They’re reviewing the notes as potential evidence, but they have not publicly confirmed that any ransom message is authentic or that it originated with someone responsible for her disappearance.

Savannah acknowledged the reports in an emotional family video posted to Instagram. She and her siblings stressed that they are willing to communicate only if there is proof that their mother is alive.

At the start of the clip, Savannah describes her mother with her brother and sister beside her. “Our mom is a kind, faithful, loyal, fiercely loving woman of goodness and light,” she says. “She is funny, spunky, and clever. She has grandchildren that adore her, and crowd around her, and cover her with kisses.” Savannah also says Nancy is a “devoted friend” who loves “fun and adventure.”

Savannah goes on to describe her mother’s “health and heart” as “fragile.” “She lives in constant pain,” she continues. “She is without any medicine; she needs it to survive.”

“We, too, have heard the reports about a random letter in the media,” Savannah acknowledges. “As a family, we are doing everything that we can. We are ready to talk. However, we live in a world where voices and images are easily manipulated. We need to know, without a doubt, that she is alive and that you have her. We want to hear from you, and we are ready to listen. Please, reach out to us.”

Savannah and her family are receiving an outpouring of support on social media.

“Oh Savannah, our hearts and prayers are with you and your family, and especially your beautiful mom,” The Pioneer Woman Ree Drummond commented.

“Please,” Hoda Kotb commented with heart and prayer-hand emojis.

“May God hold Nancy and her family in the palm of His hands,” Jennifer Garner wrote.
