Scheana Shay’s New Account of Her Eddie Cibrian Affair Contradicts Her Old Story
In Scheana Shay’s upcoming memoir, My Good Side, she delves into details about her affair with actor Eddie Cibrian. Shay has long maintained that she did not know he was married during their relationship, but some details in her story have changed over the years. Scheana Shay wrote about her affair with Eddie Cibrian in her new memoir
Shay and Cibrian met shortly after she graduated from college and moved to Los Angeles. She began working at a cigar lounge he frequented.
“If you were to ask me when I was growing up what my exact type was, to a tee it was Eddie — tall, dark, and handsome, with dimples,” she wrote in her book (per Entertainment Weekly). “The second we made eye contact, he smiled at me with those dimples, and I melted. How could I not? He’s undeniably a gorgeous human.”
Shay said that because of the time period, she didn’t have the tools to look him up immediately accessible to her.
“Of course, I’ve been asked a zillion times how I didn’t realize he was married,” she said. “Why would I have thought he was? He never wore a wedding ring, so I assumed he was single.”
Eventually, she wrote, another regular at the cigar lounge broke the news to her.
“The first crack in Eddie’s perfectly constructed façade appeared one night at the cigar lounge, when one of the members approached me. He said, ‘Listen, Eddie is coming in tonight. And I just want to let you know — before you do something you might regret — that I heard he’s married.’ He must have seen that we were getting more serious and didn’t want me to get in too deep.”
She said that she didn’t believe him at first, but eventually Cibrian admitted to having a wife. They stopped seeing each other for a time, but briefly reconciled.

In 2009, four years before Shay became a public figure through Vanderpump Rules, she spoke about her affair with Cibrian.
“It started as an every other Tuesday thing,” she told Access Hollywood. “He would come to my work, we’d go get drinks and after, hang out at my house.”
Her account of how she found out about the affair differed from the story she tells in her memoir. In this version, Shay said her mother broke the news that Cibrian was married.
“It went on for about six months and then [my] mom calls me one day and she’s like, ‘So that guy Eddie that you’ve been hanging out with… I just picked up the morning [paper] and it says that him and his wife Brandi of like, I don’t know five years at the time, are expecting their second child.’”
They separated. When they ran into each other again, Shay said Cibrian told her he’d left his wife. She picked up the affair again, but with some trepidation.
“I just wanted to believe what he was saying,” she said. “I was just kind of like, ‘Don’t ask, don’t tell.’ Whatever, let’s have a great summer. When you’re with me, you’re with me. When you’re not, we’ll just do our own thing.”
Brandi Glanville called her out during ‘Scandoval’
Cibrian’s wife, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ Brandi Glanville, has, unsurprisingly, not thought highly of Shay since the affair. They had several onscreen confrontations, and Glanville reignited their feud during “Scandoval.”
When Vanderpump Rules cast member Tom Sandoval cheated on his longtime partner, Ariana Madix, Shay initially spoke at length about her anger and devastation. Glanville found this hypocritical.
“A cheater is a cheater no matter how it goes down [Scheana] you knew eddie was married so it’s all the same,” she tweeted.
Glanville later followed up to say that she and Shay were on good terms.
