Sean “Diddy” Combs was found guilty on two counts of transporting individuals across state lines to engage in prostitution under the federal Mann Act. And he was acquitted of more serious racketeering and sex‑trafficking charges on July 2, 2025. Although these convictions carry a combined maximum of 20 years in prison, sentencing isn’t scheduled until Oct. 3, 2025.

In a hearing immediately following the verdict, Judge Arun Subramanian denied Combs’ request for bail, citing a long-standing pattern of domestic violence, including admissions by the defense and graphic evidence discussed during the trial. The judge stressed that Combs had not met the burden required to prove he poses no danger to the community. The defense had offered a $1 million bond and conditions, but the judge found those measures insufficient in light of his propensity for violence. Thus, Combs will remain in custody at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center until his formal sentencing.

Combs’ longtime friend, Charlucci Finney, spoke to Law&Crime about how Combs feels as he awaits sentencing.

“He’s definitely pleased, the being acquitted for those large charges,” Finney said.

The friend previously noted that he speaks to Combs several times a week. “Of course, you know, he’s not happy about still remaining in jail,” he continued. “When the judge asked him, ‘You would like to go home, wouldn’t you?’ He was like, ‘Yes, yes, yes.’ And then to come back and they say, ‘No.’ You know, that was pretty much a let down, because we thought he was coming home.”

A member of O.J. Simpson’s defense team thinks Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs will spend years in jail

As the media awaits Sean “Diddy” Combs’ sentencing, Robert Shapiro, the first member of O.J. Simpson’s defense team, spoke to Fox News Digital about how long Combs could possibly spend behind bars.

“I have to look into a crystal ball. And this is going to be a call that only one person is going to make,” Shapiro said. “Many times we will rely on a probation report or a pre-sentence report where they calculate the guidelines.”

Shapiro guessed that Combs would spend between 2.5 and 3.5 years in jail following the verdict.

“Whether or not he had a criminal history, I don’t know. That could raise it,” he continued. “But, having said that and having seen that this judge did not release him on bail, I think a message may be coming that you’re going to be spending a lot more time, so no reason to let you come out and come back in.”

CNN’s Elizabeth Wagmeister spoke on Aubrey O’Day’s podcast, Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes Present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial, regarding Sean “Diddy” Combs’ sentencing. According to Wagmeister, legal experts believe Combs will spend the “minimal” number of years possible in jail. This equals three to five.

O’Day hopes Combs gets up to 20. “I want to see what the judge does with the sentencing,” she said. “I think we should be hitting the higher edges of 20. I’m seeing about 18. If I see about 18, I’ll feel like this wasn’t something bigger.”
