Aubrey O’Day has been outspoken about her past experiences with hip-hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs, especially in the wake of his legal troubles. The former Danity Kane frontwoman, who was dismissed from the group in 2008, has previously described her time under Combs’ mentorship as emotionally and mentally taxing. Since Combs’ arrest, O’Day has remained outspoken about what it was like to work under Combs. Here’s what she recently said about what she believes Combs’ true intentions will be when he leaves prison.

Aubrey O’Day said what she believes Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ intentions will be post-prison

Following Sean “Diddy” Combs’ arrest in September 2024 on charges of sex trafficking and racketeering, former Danity Kane member Aubrey O’Day expressed a sense of validation. However, she wasn’t pleased with the trial results. A federal jury convicted him on only two counts of transportation for prostitution. These convictions, under the Mann Act, carry a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison. However, prosecutors have indicated they will seek a sentence of at least 51 months (approximately 4.25 years), while the defense advocates for a term closer to 21–27 months.

“It was just so disappointing,” O’Day told TooFab of the verdict. O’Day noted that she “didn’t see it coming,” as she kept up with everything in the courtroom as the trial progressed.

Combs’ next step is his sentencing hearing in October 2025. O’Day believes his defense will claim that Combs plans to become an advocate for abused women.

“I can tell you what the defense is going to say as well. ‘He’s going to go to a battered women’s shelter facility right after; he’s going to live there. He’s going to become best friends with women; he’s going to learn how to repent for his ways. You’re going to see a new man by February 14th. He’s going to be the face of Valentine’s Day,'” she told the publication.

However, she believes he has different intentions. “His intention will be to rebuild his career,” she claimed.

Sean “Diddy” Combs’ lead attorney, Marc Agnifilo, told CBS Mornings that Combs has done a lot of “reflection” since his trial.

“He wants people to know that he has reflected on the blessings that he’s been given, on the imperfections that I think he sees in himself,” Agnifilo said. “I think he wants to get out of jail, reestablish a loving, present relationship with all of his seven children. He wants to take care of his mother.”

Agnifilo doesn’t know everything about Combs’ future career plans. However, he mentioned in the interview that Combs might hope to return to performing. If Combs reenters the music scene, he allegedly hopes to play Madison Square Garden.

“One thing he said — he said he’s going to be back in Madison Square Garden,” the attorney alleged. “… I guess being on stage. And I said I’ll be there.”

A former prosecutor says it’s ‘very likely’ that the hip-hop mogul can find his footing in the music industry again

Sean “Diddy” Combs might face backlash if he attempts to reenter the entertainment industry post-prison. However, some experts believe it’s possible. Former Manhattan prosecutor Michael Bachner told Page Six that Combs “may suffer some initial setbacks.” But the mogul is “very likely” to “bounce back.”

“Certainly his reputation has taken a hit, but having been acquitted of the very serious charges, I think over time his career will rebound,” Bachner, who represented Combs in 2001, said.
