Opening statements for Sean “Diddy” Combs’ trial begin on Monday, May 12, 2025. Prosecutors allege that over two decades, Diddy exploited his celebrity status to coerce women into participating in illicit activities, often under the guise of romantic relationships. Key witnesses, such as his former girlfriend Cassie Ventura, are expected to testify. A 2016 hotel surveillance video will potentially play a central role in the case. Diddy has pleaded not guilty to all charges. He asserts that the encounters were consensual and criticizes the proceedings as a media spectacle.

According to DailyMail.com, six of Diddy’s seven children arrived to support their father. Justin Dior Combs, Christian Combs, Quincy Brown, and daughters Chance Combs, Jessie Combs, and D’Lila Combs were seen arriving at the courthouse after exiting a black van. Diddy’s mother, Janice Combs, was also seen in attendance and seated in the second row.

As Diddy walked into the courtroom on May 12, he reportedly put his hand on his heart and smiled at his kids. He also made a heart symbol with his hands. Before taking a seat, he blew a kiss to one of his sons.

Diddy’s son, Quincy, previously posted on Instagram regarding how the allegations “devastated” his family. “We stand united, supporting you every step of the way,” Quincy wrote in October 2024. “We hold onto the truth, knowing it will prevail, and nothing will break the strength of our family.”

Kim Porter’s friend stepped up to care for Porter and Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ twin girls post-arrest

Kim Porter and Sean “Diddy” Combs have twin 17-year-old girls: Jessie and D’Lila Combs. According to TMZ, the late Porter’s friend, Lawanda Lane, aka Lala, stepped up after Diddy’s arrest to care for Jessie and D’Lila. Porter died in 2018 of pneumonia.

The publication notes that Lala is not Jessie and D’Lila’s legal guardian. However, she helps the girls with their day-to-day schedules. She also reportedly assists in protecting the twins from listening to the media discuss their father.

A source previously told The U.S. Sun that the twins feel outsiders “targeted” Diddy. “They are both very close and have a great support system, but it’s an extremely difficult thing for them to go through now [that] their dad may also be locked up for months ahead of trial,” the source claimed.

Janice Combs called her son’s situation a ‘public lynching’

Sean “Diddy” Combs’ mother, Janice Combs, released a statement through her attorney, Natlie G. Figgers, regarding Diddy’s arrest.

“It is heartbreaking to see my son judged not for the truth, but for a narrative created out of lies,” she said in the statement shared with The Hollywood Reporter. “To bear witness what seems to be like a public lynching of my son before he has had the opportunity to prove his innocence is a pain too unbearable to put into words. Like every human being, my son deserves to have his day in court, to finally share his side, and to prove his innocence.”

Janice will likely attend as much of the trial with Diddy’s kids as possible to support her son.
