Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ ‘Rewarding’ Prison Job, Revealed
Sean “Diddy” Combs is now serving a 50-month federal prison sentence following his October 2025 conviction on two counts of transporting individuals for prostitution. He was recently transferred to FCI Fort Dix, a low-security prison in New Jersey, where he reportedly has access to substance-abuse treatment and other rehabilitative programs. According to his legal team, Combs has expressed a commitment to personal growth and sobriety. And the mogul also reportedly has a “rewarding” job behind bars. Here’s what to know.
Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs reportedly works as a chaplain’s assistant at FCI Fort Dix
Sean “Diddy” Combs was transferred in late October 2025 to the Federal Correctional Institution at Fort Dix, New Jersey, a low-security facility. His placement there was not just about security level. Combs’ legal team specifically requested Fort Dix so he could enter its Residential Drug Abuse Program (RDAP), the Bureau of Prisons’ most intensive substance abuse treatment program.
At Fort Dix, Combs is reportedly housed in the dedicated drug-program unit rather than the general population. As part of his daily routine, he’s been assigned to laundry duty, according to Corrections1. Working in the prison’s laundry facility is a common job in such institutions.
Additionally, Combs is reportedly working as a chaplain’s assistant. CBS News reports this is one of the more desirable jobs behind bars, as it has prestige. Inmates with this job maintain the chaplain’s religious library, clean their office, and help with keeping the records. They also work in a private office that typically has air conditioning. Additionally, chaplains often bring in food for religious services that they share with the assistants. According to a corrections officer, the chapel is one of the few places where inmates can congregate.
“He works in the chapel library, where he describes the environment as warm, respectful, and rewarding,” Combs’ publicist, Juda Engelmayer, told CBS News.
The mogul’s prison sentence was just extended
Sean “Diddy” Combs’ time behind bars just got longer. The music mogul, who was initially projected to be released from federal custody on May 8, 2028, has quietly had his release date pushed back to June 4, 2028. The Bureau of Prisons hasn’t issued a public explanation. However, the updated date reflects nearly a month added to his sentence — an unexpected setback for a figure already facing intense scrutiny both inside and outside prison walls.
Benjamin O’Cone of the Bureau of Prisons’ Office of Public Affairs provided a statement to USA Today. “For privacy, safety, and security reasons, we do not discuss the conditions of confinement for any individual, including release plans, timing, or procedures, or whether a particular individual is the subject of allegations, investigations, or sanctions.”
Reports surrounding the extension point to a series of alleged rule violations at FCI Fort Dix. According to multiple outlets, one of the key incidents involved an unauthorized three-way phone call. This infraction is considered serious due to the security risks it creates. Other sources have claimed that Combs may have been caught with homemade alcohol produced inside the unit, despite his public focus on sobriety since beginning his sentence.
Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ lead attorney said the mogul is a ‘religious man’
Sean “Diddy” Combs’ lead attorney, Marc Agnifilo, spoke to Court TV about Combs’ life once he leaves prison. Agnifilo said Combs has spent a lot of time reflecting since sentencing.
“The phrase he uses with me, and I can share it because he said that I could, is he says he feels he has more to give,” Agnifilo said.
Additionally, Agnifilo commented on Combs’ religion.
“He’s a religious man,” the attorney continued. “He’s a man who has seven children. He takes care of them all, all of them. … He’s really a very caring, dedicated person. I think he wants to emphasize that part of his life.”
