Alpine skier Lindsey Vonn is one of the all-time greats. She won the gold medal in the downhill at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver–the first-ever American woman to do so–along with an Olympic bronze medal in women’s super-G. Eight years later, she took home another bronze medal at the 2018 PyeongChang Games. Vonn is also one of only six women to have won World Cup races across all five alpine skiing disciplines.

At the 2026 Milan Cortina Games, Vonn attempted her Olympic comeback after retiring in 2019. Her big return though ended in a terrifying accident. On Feb. 8, just 13 seconds into the women’s Olympic downhill final in Cortina d’Ampezzo, she clipped a gate before losing control and crashing.

Vonn sustained serious injuries, including a complex fracture of her left tibia, and was airlifted to a hospital. She received multiple surgeries and continued her recovery and rehabilitation once she returned to the U.S. But even with all that going on, she still might be living her best life right now with her boyfriend, Matthieu Bailet.

The Olympian and her beau first sparked romance rumors in May 2026 after they were photographed together in New York City. In September, Vonn hard-launched their relationship and became Instagram official when she shared a carousel of snaps, captioned, “About that time for a summer recap… pt 1” with red heart emojis.

Bailet was featured in a few of the pics, including one where they are kissing. But despite letting everyone know they’re together, Vonn talked about how she now wants to keep their relationship mostly secret.

At the 2026 CFDA Fashion Awards on Nov. 2, Vonn told People, “I think in my past it’s kind of been mixed of keeping things private and maybe oversharing. I’m trying to strike a nice balance. He’s awesome, and I wanted to share that. People know now I’m dating someone and I’m happy, but I’m not going to share too much moving forward.”

So just what do we know about the man in Vonn’s life? Well, Bailet is an athlete as well. Like Vonn, he is an alpine ski racer too.

Bailet was born in Nice, France, on April 23, 1996, making him 11 years Vonn’s junior. He made his World Cup debut in March 2016 as a member of the French international skiing team. That same year, he won gold in super-G at the Junior World Championships in Sochi, Russia. Bailet made the podium at the World Cup in 2021, coming in second in super-G at Saalbach-Hinterglemm in Austria. He then competed at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing and the Alpine World Ski Championships.

Before Bailet, Vonn was in a relationship with business executive Diego Osorio. They split in 2025 after four years together. Prior to that, the Minnesota native was engaged to former NHL All-Star P.K. Subban. But before they made it down the aisle, the two decided to call it quits in 2020. Vonn also famously dated golfer Tiger Woods from 2013 to 2015.

Vonn was married once before as well. She and fellow U.S. Olympic alpine skier Thomas Vonn tied the knot in 2007. They filed for divorce in 2011.
