‘Seeking Sister Wife’: Dannielle Merrifield Went Back to Waitressing to Support Her Family
The Merrifields are back on TLC, and they’re still searching for a sister wife. The Colorado couple will appear in season 6 of Seeking Sister Wife, which premieres September 22. And this time around, they’re hoping they’ve finally found the right woman to join their family.
In the premiere, Dannielle and Garrick are anxiously awaiting the arrival of a new potential sister wife, Lorrana, from Brazil. But after multiple disappointments in their quest to live a polygamous lifestyle, will Dannielle and Garrick be disappointed once again? Or is Lorrana truly the one for them?
Dannielle opened up about taking new job
A new potential wife for Garrick isn’t the only big change for Dannielle and her husband. Toward the end of Seeking Sister Wife Season 5, Dannielle revealed that she was pregnant. The baby news was unexpected, and it lead to some shifts in the family. For one, Dannielle had to get used to being a mom to a little one again, more than a decade after welcoming her other two children. The new baby also seems to have also affected the family’s financial situation, she explained in a social media update last year.
“I just feel pressed to share … I started serving again to help out my family financially,” Dannielle said in the video shared on Instagram in December 2024. “I felt God led me to do that. And it’s been a blessing. I started doing it about, like, six weeks ago or so.”
But going back to work wasn’t easy, the mom of three admitted. The previous evening, she’d had a difficult night. She attributed her challenges to resisting God’s plan for her when she passed on her manager’s offer of handling a busy section.
“My manager put me in that section for a reason,” a tearful and tired-looking Dannielle said. “But I didn’t trust in God and what he had. And just sitting here this morning God was telling me, ‘If you would have done it my way, it would have been so much better.’”
“Doing it our way never works out,” she added. “It was just a simple, subtle reminder that I don’t want to do it my way. I want to do it God’s way.”
‘Seeking Sister Wife’ fans wonder why Dannielle really went back to work
It’s not clear if Dannielle is still working as a server or if the job was just a temporary one. But her followers on Instagram were confused about why she had to work at all, especially considering she had a small child at home. (Dannielle and Garrick’s daughter Leia was born in May 2023.)
“Well because work is part of life and the curse of man!” Dannielle replied to one person who wanted to know why she had to get a job.
Garrick and Dannielle also own their own construction company, Merrifield’s Custom Builders and Landscaping. But some of her fans suspected that the business wasn’t bringing in enough to support Garrick’s many ventures abroad.
“I really hope your not waiting tables to fill a financial gap so Garrick can date women overseas. I know for certain these trips are not cheap,” one person wrote.
“You are worthy and a beautiful woman. Can’t believe Garrick has put you in this financial situation,” another commented, before urging Dannielle to think about protecting herself. “He’s not looking out for your families best interest … Make sure you are saving some of that money for your future get away account that Garrick does NOT have access to. If he’s really a good supportive husband he should not have any issues with this.”
Seeking Sister Wife Season 6 premieres Monday, September 22 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on TLC. Episodes also stream on HBO Max.
