‘Seeking Sister Wife’: New Details Emerge About Garrick Merrifield’s Arrest on Domestic Violence Charges
More details are trickling out about Seeking Sister Wife star Garrick Merrifield’s recent arrest on domestic violence charges.
Why was Garrick Merrifield arrested?
On November 24, the TLC personality was arrested by Chaffee County Sheriff’s deputies and charged with misdemeanor domestic violence and obstructing telephone service. The news came shortly after Garrick and his second wife, Lorrana, announced the birth of their first child. Garrick is also spiritually married to his first wife, Dannielle Merrifield, with whom he shares three children.
The incident that led to Garrick’s arrest apparently involved Lorrana. According to TMZ,Garrick tried to snatch her cellphone so that she couldn’t call her family. He also refused to let Lorrana call 911 and threatened to call ICE on his wife, who is from Brazil. She says he even went so far as to cut the wifi so that she couldn’t communicate with her family of police. The dad of four ended up spending the night in jail before being released on a $1,000 bond. He’s due back in court on December 16, The Mountain Mail reports.
According to podcast host Sarah Fraser of The Sarah Fraser Show, Garrick has been ordered to stay away from Lorrana, whom he wed in October 2024. Meanwhile, both Garrick and Dannielle have deleted all photos of Lorrana from their social media. But Lorrana’s Instagram still features at least one photo of her with Dannielle. However, all three still follow each other on Instagram. No one in the Merrifield family has made a public statement about Garrick’s arrest and TLC has not addressed the incident. It’s not clear if the Merrifields will return if Seeking Sister Wife is renewed for a seventh season.
Past ‘Seeking Sister Wife’ cast members speak out
Meanwhile, it seems that some people who know the Merrifields aren’t exactly shocked by the latest turn of events. Two women who were involved with Garrick and Dannielle have spoken about the incident, according to Fraser.
Nathalia, a Brazilian woman the couple courted in Seeking Sister Wife Season 5, said in an Instagram post that she was “grateful to God for protecting me from violence against women.” And a friend of Nathalia’s reportedly said that that both Dannielle and Garrick were “crazy as hell” and could also be manipulative and aggressive, which led to Nathalia to end the relationship.
Roberta, who the Merrifields courted earlier in Seeking Sister Wife, also spoke out. She wrote on Facebook that she was “pretty fed up watching who tried to knock me down. The justice of God never fails.”
Seeking Sister Wife is streaming on HBO Max.
