The Merrifield family continues to stir up controversy as season 6 of Seeking Sister Wife unfolds. This season, the reality show follows Garrick and Dannielle Merrifield, who seemingly secured a Brazilian sister wife through legal marriage — finally, after two other attempts. However, there seems to be trouble in paradise as Garrick’s November arrest went public, and he bonded out of jail. What’s happened to the Merrifields? Here’s what we know so far:

Garrick Merrifield was arrested and charged with a class 1 misdemeanor

A Reddit user witnessed Garrick Merrifield’s bond hearing during a virtual meeting in Chaffee County. The Merrifields, who live in Buena Vista, Colorado, often showcase the beautiful town in the Collegiate Peaks area. Garrick and Dannielle have had prior run-ins with the law, but this was the first time Garrick has been seen in an orange jumpsuit. (In 2023, Garrick received a citation for driving a vehicle without a seatbelt, reports The Chaffee County Times.)

The father of four‘s current arrest seems more serious. At 1:30 pm MST today, Garrick attended his bond hearing, which was allegedly categorized as a “hearing upon advisement.” According to Shouse Law, this is the first time one faces a judge, who will inform them of criminal charges. Garrick did not have to plead guilty or not guilty during this hearing; that is part of the arraignment. His judge, Diana Bull, may have asked the TLC star if he has a lawyer, plans to hire one, or needs a lawyer appointed by the state of Colorado.

Garrick was reportedly charged with a class 1 misdemeanor for obstructing a telephone service. According to Shouse Law, this involves intentionally preventing or delaying a message through a phone line or other device. The misdemeanor could involve cutting wires, physically taking a phone from someone, or disabling a device, specifically when the person is trying to make an emergency call. Court records list the offense date as November 22, 2025.

A Portuguese interpreter was involved in Garrick Merrifield’s bond hearing

One of the Merrifields’ main storylines in season 6 was their legal snafu regarding their K1 visa. This immigration visa allows a foreign national fiancée of a U.S. citizen to enter the country specifically to get married. For the Merrifields, this meant Lorrana and Garrick needed to wed within 90 days of her arrival. Dannielle had previously divorced Garrick, so they could pursue plural marriage.

In season 6, the trio faced the legal hiccup of needing a Portuguese translator to legitimize Lorrana’s agreement to a legal partnership with Garrick. In the end, they pulled it off, marrying at the courthouse in Buena Vista while Dannielle got emotional outside.

A Portuguese interpreter attended Garrick’s bond hearing, which could imply that Lorrana was a participant. What does this mean? Well, it could allegedly indicate that Lorrana was involved with Garrick’s arrest. She could be serving as a witness, but a witness would not be needed for a bond hearing. Many Reddit users are assuming the worst: a possible incident involving Lorrana.

Before Garrick’s arrest, fans noticed that the Merrifields wiped all signs of Lorrana and baby Sarah — yes, Garrick and Lorrana have an infant daughter together — from their social media accounts. As of publication, TLC has not deleted the Instagram video of the trio introducing baby Sarah to the world. So, we can guess that the Merrifields did not delete Lorrana from social media to avoid leaking spoilers regarding her pregnancy and baby announcement.

As Garrick Merrifield’s legal situation develops, more questions than answers remain. Until more details surface or TLC addresses the arrest, speculation will only intensify. One thing is certain: The Merrifield family won’t be stepping out of the spotlight anytime soon
