Selena Gomez just showed off a shaggy bob cut with bangs. But is her new do permanent?

Gomez’s longtime makeup artist, Hung Vanngo, was the first to show off her shorter hair in a photo of them together, writing: “New hair, who dis?” The “Sunset Blvd” singer later debuted the new style via Instagram and fans in the comments section approved of the look with bangs. They replied with fire emojis and described it as “flawless.”

But the Only Murders in the Building actor captioned the photo of her shorter do, “I would, but I’d regret it, then get it redone so I simply wont,” with the hashtag “bangs.” She then revealed in an Instagram Story that “It was a wiggly wig.”

Gomez is no stranger to having bangs. She rocked curtain bangs in 2020, a curly bob with bangs in 2022, and long ’70’s bangs in 2024. However, she’s not commiting this time as bangs aren’t easy to maintain.

Celebrity hairdresser Melissa Timperley defined Gomez’s temporary do as a “cowboy bob.”

“Slightly longer at the front with shaggy, undone layers, this cut channels effortless cool with a rebellious edge,” Timperley told Elle. “It pairs perfectly with curtain bangs or a sweeping fringe, giving it that lived-in, windswept feel. Think city-chic meets desert muse: confident, carefree, and unapologetically stylish.”
