Did Shakira’s Ex, Gerard Piqué, Bring His Current Girlfriend to the Singer’s World Cup Halftime Show?
Shakira was one of the headliners at the FIFA World Cup Halftime Show. The Colombian singer delivered a crowd pleasing performance singing her World Cup anthem “Dai Dai” with Burna Boy. Shakira donned a custom Roberto Cavalli ensemble, which featured 200,000 Swarovski crystals, as she shook her hips along with 34 dancers behind her.
Following the show, news broke that Shakira’s ex, Gerard Piqué, was in attendance watching her perform. Piqué is a former soccer star who played for Spain when the team won it’s first World Cup in 2010. That’s also the same year he met Shakira during the filming of the music video for “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa),” which was the official song of the FIFA World Cup in South Africa.
They confirmed their relationship in 2011 and went on to welcome two sons, Milan and Sasha, while living in Barcelona. In 2022, they announced their separation with allegations that Piqué cheated on his famous partner with a woman named Clara Chía Martí.
That’s why an internet rumor that Martí was with Piqué watching Shakira’s halftime show raised eyebrows and drew the ire of some fans. However, that turned out to be nothing more than an internet rumor as Piqué actually attended the match with Milan and Sasha.
Videos of Piqué and the kids arriving at the stadium went viral on social media. They were accompanied by Sergio Busquets, who is also a former soccer player. The children were seen dancing in their seats when Dai Dai began playing before kick-off.
After the game, in which Spain defeated Argentina, Shakira posed for photos with Ferran Torres, who she presented the Man of the Match trophy to. Some online then compared those pics to the snaps of Shakira and Piqué taken several years earlier.
