Shocking Revelations About Chris From ‘Love Is Blind’ Season 10 Have Fans Questioning the Show’s Casting Process
New revelations about a controversial Love Is Blind Season 10 cast member have fans questioning the show’s process for vetting the show’s participants.
Chris and Jessica got engaged on the latest season of the Netflix series but ended their relationship shortly after returning from their honeymoon in Mexico. Things went south after he bluntly informed her that he wasn’t physically attracted to her because she didn’t do “Pilates every day.”
Chris’ comments didn’t earn him many supporters among the show’s viewers. But as allegations about Chris’ behavior outside of the show surfaced, many Love Is Blind went from annoyed to alarmed.
‘Love Is Blind’ viewers wonder how Chris got cast
Not long after the episode featuring Chris and Jessica’s breakup dropped on Netflix, a woman claiming to be his ex appeared on Reality Steve’s podcast. She shared a disturbing recording of a conversation between herself and a person who is reportedly the Love Is Blind cast member.
“Yeah, you’re going to meet somebody,” the man says in the conversation, which she says occurred after their breakup. “I hope they’re a doctor, I hope they make a lot of money because that’s your only hope in life.”
Later, the man bizarrely brags about his six-figure credit card debt.
“I was $380,000 in consumer debt,” he reveals. “Do you think they’re gonna give somebody money if they don’t make money … you have no idea. Like, there was one year where I literally made $790,000. And I didn’t pay taxes.”
Love Is Blind viewers were aghast. They though the man was waving multiple red flags.
“How did he get cast?” one person asked on Instagram.
“Do they do background checks for these people? I mean, eventually, someone may be ALONE with this man!” another wrote.
“They have GOT to get better at vetting these people,” someone wrote on Reddit. “They are being incredibly reckless with the safety of the women on this show when they allow men like this into their orbit.”
Jessica has a theory about why Chris rejected her
Chris and Jessica’s lack of physical chemistry put them on the fast track to a breakup once they left the pods. That’s hardly an unheard of issue for a show that involves getting engaged, sight unseen. But Chris and Jessica’s split was particularly ugly.
Jessica, 39, is an infectious diseases physician whose busy schedule means she doesn’t have time to work out every day. Before getting engaged, she made it clear that daily gym sessions weren’t on her agenda. That proved to be a major issue for Chris, 33, a “gym rat.”
“In the normal world, I date people who do f*cking CrossFit and sh*t. Somebody who works out all the time, and has a different type of…,” he told her, trailing off.
Jessica filled in the blanks, bluntly asking if he preferred partners with a “different type of body” to hers.
“Just somebody who does f*cking, like, pilates every day, or someone who’s working out every day,” he replied.
Unsurprisingly, Chris and Jessica’s relationship did not recover after this conversation. While he later expressed regret for how he expressed his opinion, he didn’t think they were a good match.
Meanwhile, Jessica suspects there was more to Chris’ comments than just concern about her looks. She thinks he was intimidated by her her success.
“We’re in very different places in our lives — workwise and everything,” she said. “That became a bit more in his face once we were actually in each other’s spaces. The other women were like, ‘Oh, so he saw your house and then freaked out?’ I was like, ‘Oh, yeah, maybe that’s part of it.'”
“I have a lot of security in who I am — regardless of money, my house, or anything superficial like that,” she added. “I do think that that ignited a lot of stuff for him personally that really had nothing to do with me.”
New episodes of Love Is Blind Season 10 release Wednesdays on Netflix through March 3.
