Jonathan Owens, Simone Biles’ NFL boyfriend, revealed the 1 habit that saved him from theft while in Milan for the Olympics
Though she wasn’t competing at the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics, Simone Biles has been soaking in the Italian Winter Games alongside her husband, NFL safety Jonathan Owens. The couple has been spotted cheering on Team USA athletes at events like the men’s figure skating competitions. And they’ve embraced the festive Olympic atmosphere together. During a shopping outing in Milan, Owens even surprised Biles with a custom Bottega Veneta bag adorned with her initials, a lavish Valentine’s Day gesture that highlighted their affectionate bond.
Their trip hasn’t been without drama. Owens shared a light‑hearted account of nearly falling victim to a bag snatching attempt, noting that a small safety habit helped him avoid the theft while walking through the city.
“Not somebody just tried to snatch my shopping bag in Milan,” Owens posted to X on Sunday, Feb. 15. “Force of habit I had it tied around my hand so he couldn’t get it and took off running immediately … but still crazy.”
A fan commented that Owens should’ve let the thief grab the bag so Owens could “chase him down.”
“Honestly bro it was hilarious how slow he started running away once he saw he couldn’t grab it out of my hand,” Owens replied.
In another response, Owens noted there was “no way” the thief could’ve grabbed the bag. “… I’ve seen too many TikToks of that happening so I was prepared,” he continued.
Jonathan Owens ‘spoiled’ his famous wife with a bag he bought in Milan
During their 2026 Winter Olympics‑host city visit in Milan, Italy, Jonathan Owens and Simone Biles took a luxury shopping detour. While in the fashion capital, they visited the boutique of the Italian luxury brand Bottega Veneta, known for its signature woven leather craftsmanship. Owens surprised Biles with a custom Bottega Veneta handbag, according to Page Six. The woven leather purse is reportedly valued at around $4,500. On Instagram, Biles wrote how her husband is “always spoiling” her.
The bag was personalized with gold letter charms spelling out “S,” “B,” and “O,” representing Simone’s initials. Fans quickly reacted to social media posts shared by Biles, including a playful comment about how she “never knew Bottega did this.” This hinted that the customization might have felt unique to their Milan experience.
Will Simone Biles return to the Olympics in 2028?
Simone Biles, the most decorated American gymnast of all time, has taken on a spirited new role at the 2026 Milan–Cortina Winter Olympics. And her vocal support of the Winter Olympians has her fans wondering whether she plans to return in 2028.
“I’m still on the health and wellness journey,” Biles said while speaking on TODAY. “I mean, Laurent [Landi, USA Gymnastics Hall of Fame Coach] asks me all the time. And if I have to say anything, I’m just like, ‘Give me a little bit more time to recover, mentally, physically,’ but he’s always like, ‘OK, will you just give me two years?’ And so, I feel like we’re coming up on that mark. We got a little bit more things to do, and then we’ll see.”
Biles noted that she feels nervous watching the Olympians compete. “I know how much hard work, effort, dedication, sacrifices these athletes put in, day in and day out,” she said.
