‘Sister Wives’ Season 20 Trailer: Are Kody and Robyn Considering Adding Another Wife to Their Family?
Is Kody Brown ready to put his failed plural marriages behind him and reconsider polygamy?
In the first trailer for Sister Wives Season 20 – which premieres September 28 on TLC – Kody reveals that he’s heard from another woman who might be interested in becoming one of his wives. But after a trio of painful divorces, are Kody and his one remaining wife, Robyn Brown, really ready to bring someone else into their family?
Kody makes a surprising announcement in ‘Sister Wives’ Season 20 trailer
The long, slow breakdown of the Brown family has been the main focus of the past few seasons of Sister Wives. In the teaser, Kody’s ex-wives, Christine Brown, Meri Brown, and Janelle Brown, are all moving forward in different ways. Christine is embracing her life with new husband David Woolley, Meri is jumping back into dating, and Janelle is letting her wild side out (and considering getting a spiritual divorce from Kody).
Meanwhile, Kody and Robyn are living a monogamous lifestyle. But that might not last for long.
“I got another one of those emails from some woman,” Kody tells his wife, with a laugh. “Asking to sort of like to get to know us for the purpose of joining the family.”
Kody seems to find the prospect of getting married again amusing. (He’s previously said he would “never try plural marriage again.”) But Robyn has frequently expressed how disappointed she is that her dream of being part of a large polygamist family has crumbled. She’s hinted that she might consider welcoming another wife if there was a “guarantee” that things would work out. But she realizes that’s an impossible ask.
The Brown family has a showdown at Coyote Pass
As Kody consider potential future relationships, he’s also thinking about the past. As his marriages to his three ex-wives crumbled, he often took a scorched earth approach to dealing with them. Now, with the benefit of time and distance, he wants to make amends – and perhaps build some bridges.
“I would love healing with Meri. I would love healing with Janelle. I would love healing with Christine,” he tells a producer.
To that end, Kody sits down one-on-one with each of his former wives. Though Christine says she “never” wants to see her ex again, she does eventually agree to see him.
“I want to apologize with all my heart,” he tells her.
Later, he admits he lied to Janelle when he told her he didn’t love her. As for his first wife, Meri, he assures he doesn’t want to get back together. She’s firmly in agreement.
“We are never ever ever getting back together,” she says.
The marriages might be over, but several members of the Brown family are still financially entangled thanks to their joint ownership of the Coyote Pass property. When someone expresses interest in purchasing some of the land, he, Robyn, Janelle, and Meri must meet up to discuss next steps.
“This is bullsh*t,” Robyn declares. “I’m not selling this land until everything is perfectly fair and we do this the right way. Sorry.”
“It’s a standoff at the Coyote Pass,” Janelle says. “Final showdown.”
Sister Wives Season 20 premieres Sunday, September 28 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on TLC.
