‘Sister Wives’ Star Janelle Brown Is ‘Grateful’ for People Who Are ‘Showing Me the Way’ After Death of Friend Angela Moody
Janelle Brown is remembering someone who helped her feel at home in Flagstaff.
On the November 16 episode of Sister Wives, viewers got a brief glimpse Janelle’s friend Angela Moody. The two women, along with their mutual friend Kristina, met up before Janelle reunited with her ex-husband, Kody Brown, and her former sister wives Meri Brown and Robyn Brown, to finalize the sale of the Coyote Pass property.
Janelle Brown ‘struggled’ to make friends in Flagstaff
Janelle’s friends gave her a pep talk before the conversation with Kody.
“Don’t you wish he could lose his voice?” Angela asked Janelle, who had was losing her own voice.
“He’s too busy losing his hair, Angela,” Kristina chimed in.
“No, honestly. He really is,” Angela said, while laughing.
“I struggled for years to find friends in Flagstaff, and then I finally found them about a year or so before I moved away,” Janelle explained to a producer. “It’s good for me to go hang out with them because they kind of force me to let my hair down a little bit.
Janelle clearly appreciated having some people in her corner as she once again had to deal with the contentious Coyote Pass issue. Unfortunately, the episode ended on a sad note, with TLC dedicating the episode to Angela, who died after filming.
Angela died on October 1, according to an online obituary, which described her as a person who “brought light, laughter, and genuine joy to all who knew her.” She is survived by her husband and three children.
‘Sister Wives’ star is building new friendships with “intention”
Janelle has not publicly commented on her friend’s death. But on November 15, she did reflect on the importance on finding and maintaining friendships as an adult.
“I’ve been thinking a lot lately about friendships in this stage of life,” she wrote in the caption of the Instagram post, which also featured a slideshow of photos of Janelle with various friends, including Angela.
“Honestly, it wasn’t until I read Mel Robbins’ Let Them that I fully understood how much our friendships are shaped by shared life stages and what I call being ‘in the same neighborhood’ not literally, but emotionally. Walking through the same seasons at the same time,” she continued.
“It also made me deeply grateful for the friends who have been quietly showing me the way. The ones who made the effort. Who invited this dedicated homebody out to dinner or to a show or even to play Bingo,” Janelle shared, adding that it took her “a few years” to find her footing after she moved to Arizona.
“Eventually, I found a few amazing women who went out of their way to make me feel like I had community again,” the TLC personality wrote. In the process, Janelle says she learned a valuable lesson – that building friendships takes “intention” and sometimes involve “awkwardness.”
While Janelle now lives in North Carolina, she says she trying to create more “rich friendships” in her new home.
“Here I am again, showing up, stretching out of my comfort zone,” she wrote. “Following the same steps to build new friendships in this new chapter of my life.”
