Janelle Brown ‘felt’ her son Garrison Brown on the anniversary of his death
On Thursday, the Sister Wives star took to Instagram to reflect on her son’s passing. Garrison died by suicide on March 5, 2023.
“Hi sweetheart,” began Janelle’s post, which also featured a photo of Garrison in his National Guard uniform. “I’ve felt you around today. This is my favorite picture of you. You were so happy.”
Janelle, who is mom to six kids with her ex, Kody Brown, said she had “protected” the sad date on her calendar “for weeks.”
“I didn’t know what I was going to do, but I wanted the ability to choose when the day arrived,” she shared.
Ultimately, circumstances presented an appropriate way for Janelle to spend the day, she said. She ended up having to move into her new home, and the fresh start was exactly what she needed.
“It turned out the movers I hired to help me bring the big things from storage to the new house could only move me today,” she explained. “I think it was the perfect thing. I was so busy but it was also significant to me that today would have signs of the new chapter, the new life that has begun for me since you left.”
“I love you always Garrison,” Janelle added.
Meri Brown and Christine Brown also paid tribute to Garrison
Janelle was not alone in remembering Garrison on Thursday. Her former sister wives also shared their thoughts on social media.
“Some days on the calendar hold more grief than words can explain,” wrote Christine Brown in her Instagram post. “Yesterday was one of those days. Some days on the calendar break your heart all over again. If you’ve ever loved someone and lost them, you know how those days feel. The ones that hold a little more weight than the rest. Holding space today for everyone who is carrying someone in their heart.”
Meri Brown kept her post brief but meaningful.
“Minimal words necessary, because maximum love exists,” she wrote. “Two years gone, yet living daily in our hearts. Love you always, Garrison.”
Garrison’s sister Maddie Brown Bush said that it was “strange” that “the world has kept turning without you a part of it.”
“I think about you often. In quiet moments, on ordinary days, when something reminds me of you,” she wrote on Instagram. “Sometimes I think about you more now than I did when you were here, and that truth carries a little bit of guilt with it.”
Maddie added that she wished she “had said more and sat a little longer.”
“I hope you have peace. Real peace. The kind that so eluded you in this life,” she continued. “We miss you here. Your laugh, your presence, the space you filled just by being you. Two years later, and you are still loved and still remembered. Still part of us.”
