‘Sister Wives’ Star Kody Brown Is a ‘Joke of a Father,’ Leon Brown Says
Don’t buy Kody Brown’s sob story about his family, Leon Brown says.
On Tuesday, Leon took to Instagram to address comments their father made during a recent appearance on The Viall Files podcast. The Sister Wives star claimed he makes efforts to keep in touch with his children. But Leon says that’s simply not true and that Kody “blatantly” blew them off after Garrison’s Brown death in March 2024.
Kody Brown is ‘a liar,’ Leon Brown says
During his chat with Viall, Kody spoke about his “painful” estrangement from some of his children, saying that he does make efforts to communicate with his kids.
“Life is a process. And I’m reaching, and if my hand is slapped when I reach, I wait. And then I’ll wait awhile and then reach again,” the Special Forces alum said after Viall asked if he felt he felt the burden was on him make amends with his 17 living children.
But Leon, who is Kody’s only child with his ex Meri Brown, says all that is BS.
“There’s a ridiculous video of my father circulating where he says he reaches out to his children,” Leon wrote on their Instagram Story. “Let me be so f*cking clear: I have not heard from that man since my brother killed himself. Kody blatantly blew me off at Garrison’s funeral. He is a liar. He is a joke of a father. That is all.”
Leon’s spouse Audrey Kriss backed up those allegations. They responded to a clip of Kody’s interview that was shared on The Viall Files Instagram with a terse but to-the-point comment.
“Verifiably not true,” Audrey wrote.
Kody Brown is ‘suspicious’ of his children
Kody’s fractured relationship with many of his older kids has been a major storyline in recent seasons of Sister Wives. His divorces from three of his four wives, disputes over how to handle COVID-19 precautions during the pandemic, and other issues have all contributed to the tension in the extended Brown family.
While Kody’s remaining wife Robyn Brown has urged him to extend an olive branch to his children – especially after Garrison’s tragic death – he’s resisted, saying that his kids need to meet him halfway.
On The Viall Files, the former polygamist admitted that he didn’t exactly trust his children.
“You start to heal things, and then you don’t get a call back for a week, and then another, and then another,” Kody explained. “And you’re wondering what’s going on in their healing. So you become very suspicious. Are my kids talking about me and are they all making an agreement?”
“I have a good relationship with many of my children,” he added. “It’s just a process.”
At the same time, Kody said he was resentful that some of his kids were pressuring him to make amends for things he says he didn’t do.
“I find myself very often feeling motivated to apologize for things I don’t feel like I should own,” he said. “…It’s very painful.”
