‘Sister Wives’ Tell-All: Kody’s Other Wives Never Measured Up to Robyn Brown
Kody Brown held his first three wives to an unfair standard, his first wife Meri Brown says in the upcoming Sister Wives Season 19 tell-all.
Meri Brown thinks her ex Kody Brown is being ‘unfair’
During her one-on-one sitdown with host Sukanya Krishnan, Meri reacted to hearing that Kody had said that he wanted to “raise up” his other marriages so that they were on the same level as the “divine love” he had with his fourth wife, Robyn Brown.
“I don’t think that’s fair for him to even say,” Meri says in a clip from the May 25 episode shared with E! News (via YouTube). “Because we’re all supposed to be Robyn? I’m sorry, I am Meri. I’m not going to be Robyn. I don’t want to be Robyn. I’m gonna be my own individual person. I don’t want to be her.”
“If they’re great together, that’s awesome,” she adds. “But I think that’s a really unfair statement.”
Kody’s problem was that he never accepted his other wives for who they really were, Meri says. His marriage to her could have only been equal to the one he had with Robyn if he’d accepted Meri for who she was.
“Only if he accepts Meri. And he didn’t accept Meri. And he didn’t for the past 12 or 14 years,” she says. “Or maybe even more.”
Meri and Kody married in 1990. They legally divorced in 2014 so that Kody could wed Robyn. In early 2023, they announced that they were dissolving their spiritual union.
Janelle Brown says ‘Sister Wives’ star is practicing ‘revisionist history’
Kody’s second wife, Janelle Brown, told Krishnan she wasn’t convinced her ex was ever committed to saving his other three marriages after he met Robyn. She accused her former husband of engaging in “revisionist history” when he said wanted to elevate his other wives to Robyn’s level.
“It would have been nice if he communicated that back,” says Janelle, who announced she was splitting from Kody in late 2022.
“So you never experienced him trying to raise you up?” Krishnan asks.
“No,” Janelle says with a laugh. “He never talked about that with me.”
In another clip (via Instagram) from the tell-all, Robyn defends her husband, saying he “tried really hard to bring his other relationships up to what he thought our relationship is.” Meanwhile, a defiant Kody refuses to apologize for his feelings for Robyn, who is now his only wife.
“You find higher love, and then everybody just slaps you down for it?” he tells Krishnan in a clip shared with People. “I’ll tell you what. There’s a divine aspect about my relationship with Robyn, and we have been bitch slapped for it.”
“I love this woman and I want peace in this relationship,” he adds. “But I’m to the point where I’m walking around flipping two birds because I am so sick and tired of being guilted for loving Robyn.”
The four-part Sister Wives Season 19 tell-all begins Sunday, May 25 at 10 p.m. ET on TLC.
