On Friday, the comedian announced that she and her husband, Chris Fischer, had decided to divorce after seven years of marriage. They share a son, 6-year-old Gene David.

“Blah blah blah Chris and I have made the difficult decision to end our marriage after 7 years. We love each other very much and will continue to focus on raising our son,” the Trainwreck star wrote in her Instagram announcement. “We would appreciate people respecting our privacy at this time.”

Schumer also tried to head off rumors about what led to the breakup, stressing that infidelity was not the cause.

“Blah blah blah not because I dropped some lbs and thought I could bag s basket and not because he’s a hot James beard award winning chef who can still pull some hot tail,” she wrote. “Amicable and all love and respect! Family forever.”

The Inside Amy Schumer star’s unconventional divorce announcement drew comments from many of her celeb friends.

“It’s so damn hard without having it be hard for the world to see… so when the world sees I’ll just say be extra gentle with yourself. All love,” One Tree Hill alum Sophia Bush commented.

“The perfect break up announcement,” wrote Nobody Wants This creator Erin Foster. Bravo’s Andy Cohen also declared it the “best announcement.”

Singer Jewel shared that she was “Sending you both all the love,” while Sharon Stone, Linda Evangelista, Jennifer Love Hewitt, and others simply reacted with heart emojis.

“Amy been there never easy…” tv personality and journalist Gayle King wrote. “Only YOU could make THIS announcement w/humor & love …. Wishing you BOTH the very best.”

Schumer’s divorce news came just hours after she shared a post praising Fischer for supporting her as she battled endometriosis.

“Just found this from years ago pretty,” she captioned a video of herself in a hospital bed. “My truest self. Chris dug it. I’ve been through a lot with endometriosis. Tell someone you love they shouldn’t have heavy excruciating periods.”

In early December, Schumer addressed rumors that her marriage was in trouble in a now-deleted Instagram post . She said that neither her recent 50-pound weight loss nor her husband’s autism diagnosis had anything to do with their issues as a couple.

“Whatever ends up happening with me and Chris has nothing to do with weight loss or autism,” she wrote. “Fingers crossed we make it through. He’s the best.”
