Stassi Schroeder Worries About Her Legacy After Appearing on ‘Vanderpump Rules’
Six years after her firing from Vanderpump Rules, Stassi Schroeder is throwing herself back into reality television with House of Stassi. While she started appearing on Vanderpump Villa in 2025, she is at the center of the new show. Schroeder said that she hopes that her new show, and other work, puts distance between herself and the show where she got her start. She doesn’t want Vanderpump Rules to define her legacy.
Stassi Schroeder doesn’t want her legacy to be ‘Vanderpump Rules’
Schroeder took a step back from the spotlight after getting fired from Vanderpump Rules in 2020. She has been busier than ever lately, though. She said that this is because she wants to define her legacy.
“I’m a mom, a wife, a sister, a podcaster,” she said in a trailer for House of Stassi. “I’m saying yes to everything right now. Work is busier than ever. I was not going to let Vanderpump Rules be my legacy.”
Her appearance on House of Stassi means that her legacy will likely have something to do with reality television. She doesn’t mind this, though.
“I know being on a reality show forces hard truths to surface,” she said. “Reality TV is all I know, and I love it. But I’m also traumatized by it. But I can’t stay away from it. This time I get to go back and do it, but on my terms. What could go wrong?”
Why was Stassi Schroeder fired from ‘Vanderpump Rules’?
In 2020, amid nationwide protests over police brutality and racial injustices, former Vanderpump Rules cast member Faith Stowers spoke out against Schroeder and Kristen Doute. Stowers had an affair with Jax Taylor, who was dating Brittany Cartwright at the time. Stowers said that Schroeder and Doute called the police on her, claiming that she was a different woman who’d been robbing people.
Schroeder and Doute were later fired from the show. She posted an apology for her actions.
“My emotions over something that happened between our friends outweighed my logic, and there is no excuse for that,” she wrote. “I did not recognize then the serious ramifications that could have transpired because of my actions. What I did to Faith was wrong.”
She said that she would focus on growing in the aftermath.
“I apologize and I do not expect forgiveness,” she wrote, adding, “I am also sorry to anyone else that feels disappointed in me. I am going to continue to look closer at myself and my actions — to take the time to listen, to learn, and to take accountability for my own privilege.”
She spoke about returning to reality television
Schroeder believes that she is a very different person now than what she was like on Vanderpump Rules. She thinks that leaving the show helped her grow.
“I was incredibly selfish and chaotic and I just feel like I didn’t consider other people before I did things or said things,” she told Marie Claire. “And if I were still in Vanderpump Rules, I’d probably be the same person. This time away from reality TV has shaped who I am now.”
While she feels passionately about reality television, she said that she only wanted to return if she could do it on her terms.
“I was very certain that if I’m going to do reality TV again I need to be able to say, ‘No, you can’t show this with my kids.’ I’m protecting my family at this point.”
House of Stassi premieres on July 29 on Freeform.
