Tamara Tunie Celebrates ‘Beyond the Gates’ Season 2 Renewal: ‘We’re Gonna Keep Them Good Stories Coming’
CBS is doubling down on the Duprees. On Monday, the network announced that it had renewed new soap Beyond the Gates for season 2.
The daytime drama focuses on a wealthy family living in a leafy suburb just outside of Washington, D.C. But there are secrets and scandals within the posh gated community that the powerful and prestigious Duprees call home.
Tamara Tunie is ‘really excited’ about ‘Beyond the Gates’ renewal
Tamara Tunie plays the glamorous matriarch Anita Dupree on Beyond the Gates. She reacted to the renewal news in a video shared on Instagram on May 12.
“I just learned that Beyond the Gates was picked up for season 2,” she said with a smile. “We’re gonna keep them good stories coming, y’all.”
“We’re really excited, considering we’re only halfway through season 1 and we already got the thumbs-up for season 2,” she continued. “Thank you for all your love. Thank you for your support, watching it every day, streaming it, whatever you’re doing to keep us on the air.”
The Law & Order: SVU alum added that telling the story of a politically influential and powerful Black family was “important … particularly at this time.”
“I’m kind of speechless,” Tunie said. “I don’t know what to say, except that I’m so grateful. And stay tuned, because we’ve got a lot of great story coming up and a lot of surprises. It just gets better and better.
‘Beyond the Gates’ Season 1 wraps up in August 2025

Tunie also shared some details about when fans should expect season 2 to begin airing, explaining that the transition to the new season should be almost seamless. Season 1 will wrap up at the end of August, she said. The cast will then take a brief break before jumping right back into season 2.
Other cast members also reacted to the renewal announcement.
“Thank you thank you thank you. This wouldn’t be happening without all of your eyes and hot takes and memes and LOVE!” Karla Mosley, who plays Dani Dupree, wrote on Instagram. “I am BEYOND EXCITED that we get to make more @beyondthegatescbs for you. Because, honey, we are just getting started!!!!!!”
“With tears of joy, we get to say WE DID IT!!!!! Couldn’t be more thankful and more proud of our entire cast, and crew!!! Thank you to all of you that have been watching and falling in love with the Duprees,” wrote Daphnée Lynn Duplaix, who plays Nicole Dupree Richardson.
Beyond the Gates premiered in February 2025. It is the first new soap to debut on a broadcast network in more than 25 years. It’s also the first to feature a predominantly Black cast since Generations, which premiered in 1989. So far, it’s averaging 1.82 million viewers per episode and is outperforming the stalwart General Hospital among female viewers between the ages of 25 and 54.
Beyond the Gates airs weekdays (2 p.m. ET/1 pm. PT) on CBS. Full episode streaming is available on Paramount+ and CBS TVE (CBS.com/CBS app).
