Brands Drop ‘Bachelorette’ and ‘Mormon Wives’ After Taylor Frankie Paul Controversy

Last week, the network abruptly canceled Paul’s season of the reality dating shows after video surfaced of her attacking Dakota Mortensen, the father of her son, Ever. Some people speculated that the decision – which is allegedly costing ABC millions of dollars – could also result in Paul taking a financial hit. Rumors surfaced that she might not get paid for filming The Bachelorette or that she could be fined for breach of contract.

Now, TMZ is reporting that Paul will still collect her paycheck for her stint on The Bachelorette. Her contract was for “services rendered,” and because she has completed filming and did promotional work for the show before it was pulled, Warner Bros. Discovery (which produces the show and licenses it to ABC) will have no choice but to pay her, despite the drama.

Paul’s salary for The Bachelorette is reportedly in the low- to mid-six figures.

While Paul might still get paid for her work on the Bachelor Nation show, she is losing out on other sources of income. Meta has reportedly ended a partnership with the Hulu star. And her future on SLOMW is unclear.

Will ‘The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives’ star’s scandal kill ‘The Bachelorette’?

Even before ABC made the unprecedented decision to put The Bachelorette Season 22 on ice, insiders speculated that Paul could be facing major financial consequences for her behavior. While the 2023 video of her altercation with Mortensen led to the decision to pull her season, the one-time couple were also involved in a domestic dispute in February. The incident led to a pause on filming for SLOMW Season 5. It also essentially spoiled her Bachelorette season, as it seems clear that Paul is not currently in a relationship with one of her suitors from the show.

“She’s in hot water for many reasons but more than any because this is a potential breach of conduct in the contract that she signed,” a production source told The Sun

“She is representing a long running franchise and multi-billion dollar media conglomerate. Of course there are ethics and standards she’s expected to uphold,” the insider continued. “At the end of the day, she could potentially be financially liable.”

Whether or not Paul has to pay up for damaging The Bachelorette’s reputation, some feel that the scandal could a fatal blow for the troubled series, which last aired in 2024.

“If they could hit a redo button and have never had come into contact with Taylor Frankie Paul, they absolutely would do that,” the source said of exec’s attitude toward the SLOMW star. “Many feel this is the last nail in the coffin for the already dying franchise.”
