Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s new Ohio mansion is currently undergoing security and protection renovations. The couple, who strive to keep their marriage out of the media, planned several ways to protect their privacy at home. However, their plans did not sit well with their new neighbors. The friction with their neighbors appears to be the first major challenge they are facing as a married couple.

The NFL star purchased the $5.35 million lakefront property in Bratenahl, Ohio, a few months before the couple’s wedding. Their plans reportedly included installing a tall fence around the property and planting trees to improve privacy. Although they received permission to build a six-foot fence, some neighbors raised objections to the proposed landscaping.

According to the Daily Mail, the couple’s plans were widely objected to by one neighbor named Katherine Bolton. Bolton claimed that the towering trees may disturb the 100-year-old clay sewer line near her house. The damage repair work could cost tens of thousands of dollars. She further pointed out that if the celebrity owners decided to sell their mansion one day, she would be stuck living near a damaged sewer line.

Another neighbor brought the board’s attention to the possibility of deer crashing into the fence the pop star and her husband put around their house. According to Star, a source brought forward the couple’s side of the story. The insider revealed, “The last thing they wanted was to have any sort of friction with their neighbors. [They] have tried so hard to make sure people would be happy.”

They further claimed that the couple had already “paid for all sorts of work that might normally be split between the neighbors.” The source also noted that Swift could also pay to avoid troubling her neighbors. “And knowing Taylor, she’ll gladly pay for anything else that the neighbors might need as a result of the trees they are adding to their property because that seems to be the concern,” the insider added.

The drama around the renovations at their property has left the couple “genuinely upset.” “It’s hard to feel welcome when this sort of sentiment is being expressed in the community and by people living right next door,” shared the source.

Swift and Kelce wished to be seen as a “positive thing for the neighborhood.” However, they may reach a drastic decision if their mansion is the source of a lot of friction. If the issue cannot be resolved, they may end up selling the property.

According to the source, the couple wanted to raise their family in the mansion. Therefore, they did not want to face such problems. “The hope is that this ugly start isn’t going to be the whole story,” the insider revealed.

Meanwhile, it is not confirmed whether the Ohio mansion will be Swift and Kelce’s primary residence. The Opalite singer has nearly eight properties in her real estate portfolio. These include her Rhode Island mansion, Beverly Hills estate, and several properties in Tribeca.

On the other hand, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end owns two other properties in Kansas City. He is currently busy with the new NFL season, while Swift appears to be travelling a lot in the past few months.
