Taylor Swift recently removed her music from posts by Donald Trump’s Team Trump TikTok account after they used it in videos. Swift has faced criticism from fans for not speaking out about Trump’s use of her music. Many other artists have spoken out against Trump when accounts associated with him use their music. While this is a definite response by Swift, many people don’t think she is doing enough.

Taylor Swift removed her music from TikTok

The Team Trump TikTok account recently posted a clip of Melania Trump watching fireworks. Text over the clip read “mood because it’s August and Donald Trump is your president” while the caption read “I’m sure @Taylor Swift is going to be super excited we used her song! #taylorswift #maga #august.” The video originally included Swift’s song “August.” Now, though, it has no sound.

Several other videos from the account that used Swift’s music no longer have sound, either.

People feel like Taylor Swift has waited too long to respond to Donald Trump

Many people have been calling on Swift to respond to Trump for months now. She has a history of fiercely protecting her trademark, but she allowed Trump to use her music and the styling of her Eras Tour merch. Her silence on the matter became so notable that many people called out Swift when other artists criticized Trump.

While the music makes a statement, Swift still faces criticism. Many people believe that this is too little, too late. 

“What she did was BARE MINIMUM,” one Reddit user wrote.

“Taylor is always TOO late when it comes to things like this,” another person added. “It’s performative.”

Many people also think she should have made a statement against Trump. Artists like Olivia Rodrigo, Billie Eilish, Sabrina Carpenter, Katy Perry, Noah Kahan, Ariana Grande and more have publicly condemned the Trump administration for using their music this year. 

“She didn’t even release a statement condemning this, not even a comment,” one person wrote.

“Also, only removing the music is less than the bare minimum if you ask me, she has still not said a single word about any of the atrocious s*** that has been happening in the past few years,” another person wrote. “She’s straddling the fence really hard.”

Some people believe that Swift only took action because of the mounting backlash against her.

“She’s had MONTHS to do this,” one person wrote. “It only became so prevalent that she had to do something. Taylor is a billionaire, she’ll only do what’s profitable to her. She’ll never be on the correct side of history.”
