Teddi Mellencamp, the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum and daughter of rock legend John Mellencamp, has been navigating a harrowing journey with stage 4 melanoma cancer. The disease, which began as melanoma, spread to her brain and lungs. Teddi underwent numerous surgeries, radiation, and immunotherapy as part of her treatment plan. And she even shared hopeful scans in late 2025. However, her father, John, recently gave a worrying update.
John Mellencamp gave an update on Teddi Mellencamp’s health amid her cancer battle
Teddi Mellencamp’s cancer journey has been a long, evolving battle. It began with an initial stage 2 melanoma diagnosis in 2022 to a confirmed stage 4 diagnosis with brain and lung involvement in 2025. In 2022-2023, Teddi told her followers that she had dozens of procedures to remove melanoma spots. Then, in February 2025, the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum revealed that CT and MRI scans detected brain tumors following her severe headaches. Doctors also found cancer metastases in her lungs. In April 2025, Teddi confirmed that her cancer was stage 4.
John Mellencamp’s update on Teddi’s health in January 2026 now worries fans. He appeared on the Joe Rogan Experience and discussed his daughter’s cancer.
While on the podcast, John said Teddi is “really sick.”
“It’s not f***ing fun,” he noted. “She’s got cancer in the brain, and she’s suffering right now.”
In October 2025, Teddi offered one of the most hopeful updates of her cancer journey. During an episode of her podcast, Two T’s in a Pod, she revealed that after ongoing immunotherapy and scans, she was told there was “no detectable cancer” in her body at that point. However, she was careful to temper expectations. She explained that even with undetectable cancer cells, she was not considered in remission. She still needed to continue immunotherapy for at least another year and follow the timelines doctors use to define remission.
Teddi clarified that cancer being “gone” on scans didn’t mean she was out of the woods, but it was still a significant and encouraging step.
