After years of distance, the two surprised fans by reconnecting around 2012, releasing collaborations and speaking openly about trying to rebuild trust. Their reunion, however, was short-lived. By mid-2013, they had separated again. They both acknowledged that their lives and priorities were pulling them in different directions. Despite occasional moments of public cordiality in the years that followed, their romantic relationship ultimately came to an end.
In 2012, Rihanna and Brown were spotted at Adagio nightclub in Berlin on Thanksgiving night. According to E! News, Brown was on his “Carpe Diem Tour,” and Rihanna recently wrapped up her “777 Tour.” Rihanna then flew to Germany before Thanksgiving. After spending time together at the club, the two singers hopped in a vehicle together.
“All alone in my big ole jet!!! See u soon lover,” Rihanna captioned an Instagram post of her on her way to Berlin.
Fans commented on the Instagram photo and tagged Brown.

According to ABC News, Rihanna fueled rumors of a reconciliation with Chris Brown after they reunited in Germany for Thanksgiving. She posted a photo showing her wrapped around Brown’s body and kissing his head. “I don’t wanna leave!!! Killed it tonight baby!!!” she captioned the post, referring to one of his concerts in Germany.
Around the same time as their Thanksgiving clubbing, the exes shared partially undressed photos of each other. Rihanna posted a shirtless photo of Brown to Twitter, and she followed that with a topless photo of herself.
Earlier in November 2012, Brown said he and Rihanna were actively working on their friendship after the breakup.
“As far as our personal life, I think people just got to give it a chance — or, not even give it a chance, but shut the hell up,” Brown said. “It’s me. At the end of the day, whatever opinion they have ain’t going to change nothing I’m doing.”

Rihanna’s life in 2025 looks a lot different from how it did over 10 years ago. In 2024, she explained to E! News that she’d spend Thanksgiving with her in-laws, as she didn’t celebrate the American holiday in Barbados.
“Next is Thanksgiving with my in-laws, because that’s not a thing in Barbados,” she said. “And then Christmas is a very, very big thing for us. So we’re going to do it out — all the things.”
At the time, Rihanna and Rocky only had their two sons: RZA, born in 2022, and Riot, born in 2023. In 2025, they get to bring their infant daughter, Rocki Irish, to family holiday celebrations.
