The Bachelor runner-up Litia Garr is opening up about her painful breakup with Grant Ellis

Litia was one of two women in the final running for Grant’s heart in season 29 of the ABC reality series. But in the end, Grant gave the final rose to Juliana Pasquarosa – even though he’d told Litia he loved her during their Fantasy Suite date in the Dominican Republic.

On May 7, Litia was a guest on SiriusXM’s The Julia Cunningham Show, where she opened up about her feelings about Grant’s empty promises and her possible future on reality TV.

Litia Garr said she had to assume Grant Ellis had ‘goodwill’

During their conversation, Litia and Julia discussed Grant’s actions during the Fantasy Suite date. Going into the overnight date, Litia made it clear that she was not going to have sex with Grant. He swore he didn’t have a problem with the lack of intimacy, even telling Litia that he loved her in response. But was that actually a red flag that he wasn’t serious about their relationship? At the time, Litia didn’t think so.

“Well, and it’s like in that environment too, I’m giving him the benefit of the doubt because otherwise, I’m out of there,” she said. “I have to assume goodwill, you know what I mean?”

“I was very sure of myself. It wasn’t like, ‘I’m thinking about it, I don’t know yet.’ I was like, ‘I’m not going to,’ and he’s like, ‘OK, I love you.’ I was like, ‘Oh, OK. Me too. Great,’” she continued. “If it was a tactic, it just kind of like bounced off. I didn’t even consider that that was, it didn’t affect my decision.”

In hindsight, Litia realized that Grant may not have really meant what he was saying in the moment. That’s something she’s experienced in the past.

“I feel like this is a common thing,” she said. “This happened to me before, it happened to my friends before where men just are like, ‘Well, I didn’t know how I would feel until I brought the relationship to this point and now that I told you I love you and I’ve made you all these promises, I realize I actually don’t really mean it,’ and you know, you’re just kind of like, ‘Well, that’s the kind of stuff you should think about before you say it.’ … I wouldn’t say those things if I wasn’t sure.”

Inability to Land a Compelling Lead Reportedly to Blame for ‘The Bachelorette’ Pause, Says Alum

Litia’s experience on The Bachelor didn’t end the way she had hoped. But despite her disappointment, she’s not writing off future appearances on reality TV.

While The Bachelorette is currently on pause, Litia indicated she’d be up for taking another shot at love on Bachelor in Paradise, or even Dancing With the Stars, though she admits she’s “not a great dancer.

“Oh yeah. I’m open to it,” she said. “I had a great experience. I think it’s very new and I had a great, I loved everyone in production. Everyone at Hulu, ABC, Warner Brothers.”

As for her feelings about Grant, she says she’s at peace with what happened and looking toward the future.

“I feel great today. I feel like I got the closure that I needed that day,” she said. “That was a long conversation … If someone is capable of doing this to someone they said they loved, I couldn’t be with that person.”

“I’m proud of myself for being myself and being vulnerable and opening up,” she added. “Onto the next, yeah.”
