After their parents, Todd and Julie Chrisley, went to prison in January 2023, Savannah, 28, stepped up as the primary caretaker for her two younger siblings, Grayson and Chloe. Being thrust into a parental role was a challenge – one that was made harder because she wasn’t getting a lot of support from the rest of her family, Savannah says.

“Chase and I are definitely on rocky terms, because over the past 2½ years, he has not helped me at all,” she says. “I mean when it come to the kids, financially, mom and dad, he has not picked up a single ounce of slack. And he’s been given ample opportunity to do so.”

The podcast host and influencer added that she felt her brother’s attempts to connect were “strictly performative.”

“There’s a lot of resentment,” she said. “So when things are said and done, I don’t forget it. I don’t know if it can ever be repaired, honestly.”

Savannah only wants help on her terms, Chase Chrisley says

Savannah thinks Chase isn’t pulling his weight. But that’s not quite the story he tells.

“Savannah wants help on Savannah’s time,” he tells a producer.

Chase, 29, hinted that his younger sister wanted to play the role of the family martyr.

“As much as Savannah says she wants my help, I don’t think Savannah actually wants any help because she wants to be able to say that she’s done it on her own,” he said.

It’s not just Chase that Savannah has beef with. She admits that she’s not happy with Julie’s parents, Harvey and Pamela Hughes. They favor Chase, Savannah thinks, and they haven’t pitched in enough with Chloe and Grayson

“My relationship with my mom’s parents, like Chase has always been their chosen one … it’s tough,” she says. “There’s a lot of resentment just because no one has shown up. They haven’t helped me with Chloe, Grayson, nothing. Everyone is just all about themselves.”

Julie’s mom praises Savannah: ‘She has stood up for Julie and Todd’

One reason why Savannah and Chase’s grandparents might not have been able to help could be financial. Pamela tells a producer that she and her husband had to go back to work after Todd and Julie went to prison and they were no longer able to help them with housing costs. Currently, the couple are sharing a home with Chase and his girlfriend Jodi, with everyone chipping in to make ends meet.

Despite the tension, Pamela admits that her granddaughter has had to shoulder a lot since her parents went away.

“Savannah has probably had more on her than any of the rest of use,” she says. “She has stood up for Julie and Todd. She has spoken out. I don’t think anybody could have done a better job. That’s hard for a 27-year-old.”

The Chrisleys: Back to Reality premieres Monday, September 1 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Lifetime.
