‘The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives’ Season 2 will be even more dramatic than the first, Jessi Ngatikaura promises

Jessi Ngatikaura, a central figure in Hulu’s reality series The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, continues to captivate audiences with her candidness and entrepreneurial spirit. As the owner of JZ Styles, a Utah-based salon and hair extension company, Jessi has significantly influenced beauty trends within the Mormon community, notably popularizing the “Utah curl.” In the upcoming season 2, she teases a shift towards more relaxed and playful hairstyles, including beach waves created with her signature tool, the Jagger.

Jessi’s openness about her departure from the Mormon faith and her experiences navigating life outside the church adds depth to her portrayal. Fans can expect more personal revelations and style transformations as season 2 unfolds. While speaking on LIVE with Kelly and Mark, Jessi explained how the show’s second season has “so much more” chaos than fans saw in the first.

“I will say, there’s a lot of drama, chaos, emotions, tears — so much more than the first season,” she said, adding that the first season was the cast’s “test run.”

“And now it’s like, oh, we’re a full-fledged show,” she added. “This is our real lives, and I’m so embarrassed to say that. Something new is happening every day.”

Jessi gave insight into how the cast members appear so successful. “Mormons are really good at entrepreneurship, and looking perfect, and having the aesthetic image,” she said.

Despite no longer attending church, she acknowledges her name remains on the church’s rolls, reflecting her complex relationship with her Mormon upbringing.

During the interview, Jessi called the Mormon culture “toxic,” especially where she lives. “I just felt like it wasn’t me,” she continued, “and half of my family already left. So, when I was in my mid-20s, I started stepping away.”

Jessi listed the “big no-nos” in Mormon culture that she participates in. They include drinking, wearing tank tops, and getting tattooed. Jessi then dished on how Mormons love “dirty soda” — soda with coffee creamer and other flavorings. “That’s like the morning coffee,” she explained.

‘The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives’ executive producer says he’s ‘rooting’ for all of the women

Fans who watched The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives Season 1 are anxiously waiting to see their favorite MomTok stars return for season 2. Executive producer Jeff Jenkins told The Hollywood Reporter that he’s “rooting” for all of the cast members, as he believes they’re “warriors” despite the misunderstanding from other church members.

“I’m rooting for all of them, and I mean that; I love all of them and I have so much respect for them because I think you have to be really brave to put your life out there for everyone on the planet to examine and comment on,” Jenkins shared. “I think they are warriors, absolute warriors.”

Jenkins added that he would “love for a member of the church — who works within the church, whether that’s a bishop or whoever’s in charge — to come shoot with us and share their perspective on all of this, whatever that perspective is. I would love that, I encourage it. It’s been very challenging to find that voice for that side.”

The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives Season 2 premieres on Thursday, May 15, 2025, on Hulu.
