‘The Way Home’ Fans Devastated After Hallmark Reveals Season 4 Will Be the Last for the Time-Travel Drama
The Way Home fans are heartbroken after learning that the Hallmark Channel drama will end after its upcoming fourth season, which will premiere in spring 2026.
Fans react to the news ‘The Way Home’ will end with season 4
On Thursday, People reported that the Hallmark series, which premiered in 2022, would return for its fourth and final season next year.
“Fans of The Way Home have enthusiastically watched and rewatched every episode since the first pond jump of season 1 as they’ve tried to piece together the brilliant puzzle Heather Conkie, Alexandra Clarke and Marly Reed expertly crafted,” Samantha DiPippo, SVP of programming at Hallmark Media said. “We’re grateful to our talented cast led by Andie [MacDowell], Chyler [Leigh], Evan [Williams] and Sadie [Laflamme-Snow], as well as our amazing writers and crew who have worked so hard on this show.”
The Way Home follows multiple generations of women living in the small town of Port Haven who unravel various family secrets (and discover new ones) by time-traveling via a pond on their farm. The show has a 92% positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes and has developed a loyal fanbase dedicated to speculating about possible plot twists and revelations regarding the Landry family heritage. Many were devastated to hear that the show would soon be coming to an end.
“So sad that season 4 will be the final season. The Way Home is one of the best shows that Hallmark has made,” one person commented on a Facebook fan page for the show.
“Sad to see that this will be the final season,” another wrote. “This show has brought three generations in my family together trying to guess what is coming up next after each episode.”
“Ugh bittersweet. It’s been such a joy to watch this show,” a disappointed fan chimed in.
A Change.org petition urging Hallmark to “renew The Way Home for Season 5 and to let this extraordinary journey keep unfolding” has generated more than 3,000 signatures.
However, some people decided to look on the bright side, saying that they were “excited to see the ending.”
“All great things have to come to an end,” they wrote. “I just hope it’s a GREAT ending and not rushed like most shows are and it ends being stupid!”
Hallmark promises a satisfying end to the ‘The Way Home’
While the Landry family’s story is coming to a close, fans don’t need to worry about a series finale cliffhanger. DiPippo promised that various plotlines will be wrapped up in a decisive way in the final season.
“Season 4 will feature the thrilling twists and turns fans expect and, as the Landry family’s journey comes to a satisfying close, viewers will get the answers they’ve waited for,” she said.
The Way Home Season 3 ended with Del (MacDowell) time traveling for the first time so that she could see her wedding to her late husband, Colton, Kat (Leigh) and Elliot (Williams) rekindling their relationship, and Alice (Laflamme-Snow) and Colton (Jefferson Brown) having a touching granddaughter-grandfather moment. But it also raised some big questions. We learned that Elliot was the baby in the basket left at the pond’s edge in the season 3 premiere and that his mom was also likely a time traveler, that Casey (Vaughan Murrae) is a time traveler but that she’s not – as many suspected – Alice’s daughter from the future, and that Del’s new love interest Sam likely knows way more about the pond than he was letting on. Plus, Kat’s brother Jacob (Spencer MacPherson) went missing again and Alice pushed herself in the pond.
