Tina Knowles, Beyoncé’s mother, shares a deeply affectionate and supportive relationship with her eldest granddaughter, Blue Ivy Carter. Knowles has publicly celebrated Blue on numerous occasions. She frequently posts heartfelt tributes on social media that highlight the young teen’s confidence and talent, including clips from performances during her mother’s world tours.

On Jan. 7, 2026, Tina posted a sweet birthday tribute to Blue. She included a collage of photos of Blue Ivy from the year she was born (2012) to the present day. In the center of the Instagram post, Tina included handwritten text reading, “Happy birthday, Blue!”

“I remember the day that we found out about you being in your mom‘s womb,” Tina captioned the post. “We could not have been more excited!” She then noted how the family came up with Blue’s name. “We were told that you were the size of a blueberry and that is where your name came from!” she wrote.

Tina went on to call Blue Ivy a “fighter from the beginning.” The proud grandmother explained how Blue “talked very early” and was incredibly smart.

“To say that I’m a proud grandmother is an understatement!” she continued. “Even with all of your accomplishments and success, you remain a very sweet, kind, humble human being. To my manager, makeup artist, fashion adviser, my love. Happy Birthday.”
