Sister Wives has finally addressed the death of Garrison Brown, more than a year after his younger brother, Gabriel Brown, found him dead inside his recently purchased home. Following Garrison’s death, fans of the series theorized how the show would address the tragedy. What they just learned is that TLC cameras were rolling on the day of Garrison’s death.

In the May 4 episode of Sister Wives, fans learned that a camera crew was interviewing Meri Brown when her ex-husband, Kody Brown, called with the news. Initially, Meri silenced the phone. She later responded when he tried to get it again. The cameras cut out as she returned Kody’s call.
It appears Meri was the only family member filming on the day Garrison died. The family recalled getting the news in individual segments filmed after the tragedy. Meri further detailed her reaction to the news in an additional segment.
How did Garrison Brown die?
Rumors about Garrison Brown’s death began circulating early on March 5, 2024, after Sister Wives fans noticed chatter about an incident close to where the 25-year-old had bought a house. Later in the day, TMZ announced the reality TV star’s death, with both Janelle Brown and Kody Brown sharing a joint statement via Instagram by evening. TMZ was the first to reveal the reality TV star died by suicide.
Over the course of several months, more details about Garrison’s death and the days before were revealed. Garrison’s autopsy showed he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, but noted alcohol intoxication as a contributing factor. A roommate revealed that Garrison had struggled with alcohol abuse.
Jenelle and Kody did not initially discuss Garrison’s struggles with alcohol. It was discussed in depth during the May 4 episode of Sister Wives. Jenelle revealed that his struggles were known to the family. They had been offering support in the months leading up to his death. Maddie Brush, Garrison’s older sister, said she had tried to talk Garrison into moving closer to her in North Carolina. Maddie’s husband, Caleb Brush, said he believed they had almost gotten Garrison on board with the move when the tragedy occurred.
