Todd and Julie Chrisley Shut Down Divorce Rumors
Todd and Julie Chrisley are not headed to divorce court.
On Tuesday, Julie addressed rumors that she and her reality TV star husband of nearly 30 years were splitting up following their release from prison.
“Let me set the record straight,” Julie said on the July 8 episode of her daughter Savannah Chrisley’s Unlocked podcast. “We are not getting divorced.”
“I actually think that we settled back in fairly easy,” she added.
Todd Chrisley says he was ‘never away’ from his wife, Julie Chrisley
Despite a years-long separation while both were behind bars, Todd, 56, said his connection to his wife never wavered.
“In my mind, I was never away from her, and I would tell her in the emails every day,” the Chrisley Knows Best star said. “I said, ‘I’m with you every step you take and feel my love surrounding you at all times.’ So, when I went to bed at night, she was right there with me. When I woke up and I did my prayers, she was right there with me.”
Julie, 52, felt equally close to Todd while she was incarcerated.
“I don’t think there was anything in my mind that we were separate or we were ever going to be separated. It allowed us to really just come back together,” she said.
The couple added that there was no awkwardness between them once they were finally able to reunite in late May after they received a pardon from President Donald Trump. Though they had not seen each other for more than two years, it was like nothing had changed, both said.
“That first night I was grateful just to be able to get into bed with her,” Todd said. “There was no awkwardness.”
“We kind of just fell back into our routine,” Julie said. “Our roles.”
Savannah Chrisley feels a ‘disconnect’ from her parents
If anyone is having trouble adjusting to Todd and Julie’s post-prison life, it’s Savannah. The 27-year-old confessed that she’s felt a “disconnect” from both of her parents since they returned home.
“It’s something I have to work through … I don’t know where it comes from and it’s something I’ve gotta figure out,” she said. “But it’s like, I know I love you more than anything in this world, but it just feels like there’s a wall.”
Todd urged his daughter – who stepped in to raise her younger siblings while Todd and Julie were in prison – to be kind to herself as she processed everything that had happened to her and the family.
“Trauma affects you in all kinds of ways,” he said. “And you have had trauma … and your trauma in some ways could possibly be more significant than anyone else’s because you haven’t had an out. You haven’t had a stop and reset.”
“You are having now to surrender control,” Todd added. “And that causes you to look at things a little bit differently.”
