Todd Chrisley Nearly ‘Jumped On’ Famous Inmate After They ‘Talked Smack’ About Savannah Chrisley
Todd and Julie Chrisley, stars of the hit reality show Chrisley Knows Best, faced a combined 19‑year prison sentence in 2022 after bank fraud, tax evasion, and conspiracy convictions. Todd began serving a 12‑year term at Federal Prison Camp Pensacola, while Julie reported to Federal Medical Center Lexington in January 2023. During their incarceration, they endured harsh conditions — Todd described crying himself to sleep, feeling abandoned by God, and even getting into a scuffle in prison — while Julie navigated the emotional toll of separation from her family. Recently, Todd admitted that he nearly got into a physical altercation with a famous inmate after the inmate “talked smack” about daughter Savannah Chrisley.
Todd Chrisley said he threatened a fellow famous inmate after they ‘talked smack’ about Savannah Chrisley
Todd and Julie Chrisley recounted their prison experiences while on Savannah Chrisley’s Unlocked podcast from PodcastOne. The episode, which released on July 1, 2025, had Todd discussing how he was nearly sent to a different jail after “jumping on” an inmate who talked poorly about Savannah Chrisley.
“Daddy almost got sent to [a different] county one time,” Savannah, 27, said.
“What? When I jumped on that guy? About you?” Todd, 57, answered. He referred to William “Rick” Singer, the college counselor and self-help book writer who organized and sold fraudulent college admission services. Lori Loughlin and Felicity Huffman were a few of his famous clients affected by the scandal. Huffman and Loughlin served time for their involvement. As for Singer, he received a three-and-a-half-year prison sentence. Singer also had to forfeit $10 million.
“He was talking smack, saying that, you know, he didn’t wear a wire, he never told on anyone, the Feds set him up, this, that, and the other,” Todd alleged. He added that he knew about Singer’s scandal “personally” because of Huffman’s association.
“Months later, he was talking s*** about Savannah, ’cause that’s when shit already started pulling to Barbara Walters and exposing everything in the BOP,” Todd continued. “So he started talking smack. And so I just walked up to him, and I said, ‘I’m gonna say this one more time. I’m already in prison.’ I said, ‘I will rip your head off and shit down your neck if you talk about my child again.’ And I meant what I said. And you know I would’ve done that.”
Todd added that he told Singer that Singer doesn’t need to be “afraid of him.” But he does need to stay “aware” so that he doesn’t speak of Savannah ever again.
Todd Chrisley added that he ‘told staff off’ in prison
Aside from Todd Chrisley’s issues with William “Rick” Singer, he noted that he didn’t have problems with others in prison.
“That’s the only issue that I had,” he said on Savannah Chrisley’s Unlocked podcast. “I mean, I told staff off. I told COs and staff.”
Julie Chrisley noted that she “didn’t have” any issues with anyone behind bars.
“No, because you were up there being Miss Pollyanna,” Todd teased. “‘Yes, ma’am, yes, ma’am.'”
However, Julie then divulged that someone she deemed a “miserable human being” locked her in the cafeteria at one point.
Julie Chrisley went through brutal conditions that her husband didn’t have to endure
While speaking on Savannah Chrisley’s podcast, Julie Chrisley revealed some of the brutal prison conditions she had to endure that Todd Chrisley didn’t have to.
“I think it goes back to just how our prison sentences were different,” Julie said. “I was in a building that was 100 years old that had no air conditioning. It had radiator heat. So, it was cold at times in the winter, and it was really, really hot in the summertime.”
“At times, during the summer, the temperature on the third floor would be somewhere between 110 and 120 degrees,” she continued. “So, for that, it was much different and much harsher than where your dad was, because it just was everything was very old.”
“See, I would’ve been raising mortal hell,” Todd interjected.
