Acclaimed actor Tommy Lee Jones has long kept his private life out of the spotlight. Off-screen, he has navigated a complex family journey. This includes three marriages and raising two children with his second wife, Kimberlea Cloughley. Tragically, on New Year’s Day 2026, his daughter, Victoria, who appeared in a handful of films as a child and occasionally walked red carpets with her father, was found dead. Here’s what to know about Tommy’s ex-wives, two kids, and current marriage.

Who are Tommy Lee Jones’ 2 ex-wives?

Tommy Lee Jones was married twice before tying the knot with Dawn Laurel-Jones. He first tied the knot with Kate Lardner, the niece and daughter of prominent Hollywood figures. She shared several years of married life with Tommy during a period when he was balancing stage work in New York and early television roles before his breakthroughs in film. Lardner also had a Hollywood career, appearing in Making Mr. Right (1987), Quincy, M.E. (1976), and The Crutch (2005).

According to SoapCentral, Lardner took note of Tommy’s drinking habits in her autobiography. “His drinking scared me,” she wrote. The couple divorced in 1978, a seven-year union that preceded Tommy’s later, more publicized marriage to Kimberlea Cloughley.

Tommy’s second marriage to photographer Kimberlea Cloughley was one of the most significant relationships of his personal life, lasting from 1981 to 1996. The two met around the time Tommy was filming Back Roads. They went on to build a family together, welcoming two children: son Austin Leonard Jones in 1982, and daughter Victoria Kafka Jones in 1991. During their 15-year marriage, Tommy balanced his rising Hollywood career with family life, and both children occasionally appeared in or around his film projects.

According to SoapCentral, the couple cited “discord or conflict of personalities” as the reason behind their divorce. They finalized their split in March 1996.

Tommy Lee Jones and ex-wife Kimberlea Cloughley had two children during their marriage. Their eldest, Austin Leonard Jones, born in 1982, became an actor and composer. People reports that Tommy once mentioned how he worked alongside Austin on the set of The Homesman (2014), as Austin served as the musical supervisor. Tommy said that his son “went through the archives of 19th-century music that would have been expected in that part of the world” to find “important and rare songs” for the film.

Additionally, Austin makes music of his own. He released the albums Dead Calm in 2022 and At the Polo Club in 2023. He also spent 2024 touring across the U.S.

Tommy’s daughter, Victoria Kafka Jones, born in 1991, also worked alongside her famous father. People reports that she had her first Hollywood acting role in Men in Black II. She then went on to act in The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada (2005). Tommy said his daughter was a “good actress” who could speak “impeccable Spanish.”

Tragically, Victoria was found dead on New Year’s Day in 2026. The San Francisco Fire Department confirmed to People that they responded to a medical emergency at the San Francisco Fairmont before 3 a.m., and an unnamed adult was found dead. Foul play is not suspected.

Here’s what to know about the actor’s wife, Dawn Laurel-Jones

Tommy Lee Jones and Dawn Laurel-Jones married on March 19, 2001. The couple first met in 1995 on the set of the TV movie The Good Old Boys. Tommy was directing and acting while Dawn worked behind the scenes as an assistant camera operator. Their connection grew over the following years, and they eventually married in a private ceremony in Alamo Heights, Texas, according to People.

Unlike Tommy’s previous wives, Dawn has largely stayed out of the public eye but has been involved in film production roles, such as still photography and camera work, before stepping back from the industry. The pair share a life away from Hollywood’s constant spotlight, often residing on their Texas cattle ranch and engaging in shared interests, like polo.
