Travis Scott and Kanye “Ye” West’s relationship continues to intrigue fans. The two first connected in the early 2010s, when Scott, an up-and-coming producer and rapper, was influenced by West’s innovative approach to hip-hop production and performance. Over the years, they collaborated on multiple tracks, with West featuring Scott on albums like Yeezus and The Life of Pablo. And Scott has cited West as a major inspiration for his own genre-blending sound. Now, it looks like Scott might want to collaborate with West once more. Travis Scott and Kanye West’s relationship has evolved from mentorship to collaboration. Their professional journey began in 2012 when Scott signed a publishing deal with West’s GOOD Music. Scott contributed to West’s 2012 compilation album, Cruel Summer, showcasing his production skills and solidifying his position within West’s creative circle. This collaboration laid the foundation for a series of joint projects, including Scott’s contributions to West’s 2013 album Yeezus. Scott played a pivotal role in producing tracks like “New Slang” and “Guilt Trip,” according to Rap-Up.

Beyond their musical collaborations, Scott has often referred to West as a mentor. And they have strong family ties due to their previous relationships and children. Scott shares two kids, Stormi and Aire Webster, with Kylie Jenner. West shares four kids — North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm — with Kim Kardashian. Neither West nor Scott is currently dating or married within the Kardashian-Jenner family.

According to Hot 100.9, Scott just gave West a serious shoutout while performing “God’s Country” at one of his shows. And the shoutout proves that no matter how the media presents West, Scott still has his back.

“Aye, shout out to my brother Ye,” Scott says. “I ain’t gon’ lie, man, we might have to do something special soon.”

The two rappers have had issues in the past

Travis Scott just proved that his friendship with Kanye “Ye” West remains strong despite having issues with each other in the past. Earlier in 2025, West accused Scott of removing his contributions to past recordings, according to The Express Tribune. West discussed this while in conversation with DJ Akademiks and also took to social media to air his grievances. Following this, Scott unfollowed West on Instagram in February 2025.

While speaking to Complex, Scott dispelled the idea of a rift between himself and West, commenting on their family ties.

“Sh*t, man. That’s my kid’s uncle,” Scott said. “That guy took me in when I was young, when I was like 19. He taught me a lot about music. And not even just ‘taught’ me, but he allowed me to experience the creation of music.”

Even earlier, the two rappers reportedly had beef in 2018. West accused Scott of allowing Drake to “sneak diss” him on “Sicko Mode,” according to People. But West later showed his support for Scott by attending one of the “Astroworld” tour shows.

Kanye ‘Ye’ West rejects the idea of Travis Scott being his ‘family’

Travis Scott may think of Kanye “Ye” West as a close family member, but West may feel differently. According to Vibe, West didn’t take too kindly to Scott’s Complex interview.

“I read something about Trav commenting on my comments, and I’m just like, bro, all this idea of uncle and brother? This ain’t no actual family,” West said.

“There’s no men who have footing in the situation,” he continued. “We don’t come together and actually have any control of our kids. It’s like, we so concerned about being in the industry, that we let our kids get indoctrinated to the industry.”

West then brought up how he was removed from Scott’s song, “Telekinesis,” which Future is featured on, proving that old feuds may never die.
