The guessing game around Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding details has been enjoyed by many since the couple announced their engagement in August 2025. It looks like some of the guesses were so close to accurate that the couple changed direction to keep their private day as private as possible. Initially, fans assumed Travis and Taylor were eyeing a June 13 wedding in Rhode Island. We thought the date made sense, too. June 13 has come and gone without nuptials. Now, rumors are swirling that fans pegged the original plan so well that the couple changed their minds at the last minute, and that the real celebration is set for July 3 at Madison Square Garden.

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce were likely planning a Rhode Island wedding initially

Taylor Swift has never been shy about her love of Rhode Island. After all, Swift owns a sweeping, 11,000-square-foot mansion with breathtaking ocean views in the state. She seems to enjoy vacationing in the spacious abode so much that plans to wed in the postage-stamp-sized state were allegedly well underway.

According to TMZ, the pair were planning to wed at Ocean House, a luxury resort a stone’s throw from her mansion, on June 13. That isn’t a new theory, though. Months ago, there was chatter that a famous couple asked a local bride and groom to give up their planned wedding date for compensation. While Ocean House staff stayed mum, more clues are leaking out that suggest a Rhode Island wedding was actually Travis and Taylor’s first choice.

TMZ has learned that a pretty over-the-top fireworks show was planned for June 13 within viewing distance of Ocean House. That date, which doesn’t coincide with any public holiday or special event, came and went last Saturday. The fireworks show was canceled ahead of time, and though the person who ordered the show remains confidential, fans feel pretty confident it was Taylor and Travis.

So where will they wed instead?

The special oceanside plan might have been in the works, but it looks like the pair has tossed it in favor of something that offers a touch more privacy. While the Rhode Island rumors were churning through May, insiders now claim the pair are planning an unconventional wedding at Madison Square Garden in New York City, with both Page Six and TMZ reporting a July 3 date.

Taylor Swift Reportedly Introduced a Wedding Rumor to Find a Leak in Her Inner Circle

While nothing is officially confirmed, MSG would surely work for privacy and security. With underground parking, nary a window, and the security logistics of an arena already in place, the choice would ensure no one sees the couple or their guests unless they want people to. Reports suggest between 1,100 and 1,200 guests are expected, and that the couple has gone to great lengths to keep things quiet. The rumors are legitimized by the fact that the arena has nothing on the schedule for July 3, a date that conveniently kicks off the Fourth of July weekend. Taylor has also been spending a lot of time in the city. Notably, neither Swift nor Kelce has denied the reports. Whether it will actually go off as predicted remains to be seen, but it looks like fans and insiders might have honed in on the plan pretty well. Only time will tell.
