Jennifer Lawrence is best known as a movie star these days. Lawrence, ever the funny, relatable girl, is nothing short of a superstar. Decades ago, she was just starting out, though. Recently, an unearthed MTV commercial has fans questioning if Lawrence appeared on the network’s iconic series, My Super Sweet 16. While Lawrence did appear in a commercial for the series, she was not actually featured. Other famous faces were, though.
Jennifer Lawrence only appeared in a promo for ‘My Super Sweet 16’
For years, rumors have swirled that Jennifer Lawrence appeared on My Super Sweet 16. That’s not exactly the case. While Lawrence was not featured on the show, she was employed by the network for a promo for the reality TV series. Lawrence is seen in a 2005 promo for the series blowing out the candles on a tiered birthday cake while chaos erupts around her. Some rumors suggest she appeared as a background actor, too, though that remains unconfirmed.
Lawrence wasn’t even 16 when it all went down, though. The actor told Leonardo DiCaprio during an actor-on-actor interview for Variety that she earned her SAG card at 14 by appearing in a commercial for the once-popular reality TV series. Lawrence later appeared in TV shows like Monk before parlaying her acting abilities into superstar movie roles. Her breakout movie role is largely considered to be Winter’s Bone in 2010. She was 20.
These famous faces were on the show, though
While Jennifer Lawrence’s sweet 16 party was not featured on MTV, other famous faces did appear on the short-lived series. Teyana Taylor’s outrageous party was featured in 2007. Taylor’s Harlem birthday party had a 1980s skating theme and featured the future songstress entering the event in a giant Barbie box.
Justin Combs’ birthday party was featured on the series in 2010, as well. The party, held at the Ultralounge in New York City, culminated in Diddy gifting his 16-year-old son a silver Maybach. Despite his father’s legal troubles, Justin’s lifestyle has only gotten more lavish.
While the series only focused on a few famous faces when they were just teens, the parents of the birthday girsl and boys were pretty accomplished. Major musical artists also appeared to perform. Nicki Minaj, for example, briefly appeared on the show.
